Anyone else due in 2014?

Hey loves!

I'm due either January 11 according to my OB or January 17 according to the ultrasound tech lol. I'm so anxious, elated, nervous, excited and very scared. I had a preterm premature rupture of membrane(15 wks) last April and lost the baby so that's where most of my fear stems from.
Anywho, I am looking to hear from fellow preggos just to chat about what you're going through and how you're feeling about the whole "process". Oh yea and how's this affecting your hair, mine seems to have stopped growing. I usually have a pretty fast growth rate, but since I've been pregnant I've had almost no growth(less than an inch the whole 4 months) and I've gone from shaving my legs every other day to shaving like once a week. It's totally bizarre, right?

Best wishes on a healthy, fullterm pregnancy!

My hair grew a lot and then shed after my daughter was born. No noticeable changes at all with my son. (Maybe you're having two boys? LOL)

My baby days are over tho...not pregnant...just commenting.

Welcome and congrats on your pregnancy! I am due on 1/15/14. I had a loss last December at 10 weeks, so I totally understand the anxiety. I felt a lot better once I got past that point in the pregnancy, and the anxiety decreased a lot. Has your doctor recommended a cerclage or other treatments to prevent premature membrane rupture?

As for hair, mine has been super curly lately, though that could be due to the humidity here. It's normally 2B/3A but has been looking more consistently 3A with maybe some 3B-ish pieces. Maybe that's what's happening with you--the curl has increased so it looks like there's no growth due to shrinkage.

I also have barely been shedding at all. The same thing happened when my two older children were born, then I lost a ton of hair between 3-6 months postpartum.

Best wishes for a healthy pregnancy!

Thanks for the well wishes ladies! Sorry for the late response, I wasn't feeling well all weekend :( Sarah my doctor didn't recommend anything because the cause of the rupture was unknown so he said it may have just been spontaneous. All he asked me to do is try and gain atleast 10 lbs in the first and now another 15 in my second. My prepreg weight was 104 and I'm 5'7, I have always been small and no matter how much I eat its so hard to gain weight so I'm 17 weeks now and weigh 116 which is progress but I'm still under weight. Just hoping for the best and trying to stay positive.

Congrats and best wishes to you, too, sarah. I don't think I knew you were expecting again. Nice!

Congrats to both of you!!

January is so close!
I'm too excited :)
Did any of you moms or expectant moms nest? I can't stop cleaning, rearranging and making all kinds of to do lists lol. My thoughts are so clear it's like my ADHD has disappeared and I hope it stays away.

Can't wait to meet my little girl!

how exciting!

Yes, about a week before I delivered the first one, I had this sudden obsession w/ cleaning the walls in her nursery (which were knotty pine). I had even thought about those walls before. But out of no where, I was frantically ordering my husband to scrub them w/ Murphy's Oil Soap as if life depended on it (heck no, I wasn't doing that myself!).

I'm not pregnant or have any kids, but I just wanted to say congrats to the expecting mothers! How exciting! :) I hope everything goes well.

Quick run down:
Have you interviewed pediatricians?
Written a birth plan?
Assembled the crib and bassinet?
Bought sheets?
Installed the carseats? Correctly? (I think you can stop into any police station or fire dept for help)
Gotten some baby clothes together in several sizes? (stretchies for sleeping, onesies for warmth underneath, at least two snowsuits, several bibs, socks, hats)
Have you babyproofed you house? (Not necessary right away but better to just do it now)
Gathered breast pumps/bottles/milk storage bags?
Bought basic first aid kit (thermometer, bulb syringe, infant Tylenol, infant nail clippers, etc.)
Bathtub?
Towels and wash cloths?
Wipes and diapers?
Scrapbook?
Stroller?

(Note: these may or may not all be necessary but just things I found useful...except the birthplan...but other ppl find them useful LOL)

Thanks Sixelamy!

Spiderlashes, I'm in deep lol. I've been in mommy overdrive for the past 2 weeks and still going! My baby shower is Saturday and my registry list is sooo short because I bought most of the essentials already. There's only stuff that you can never have enough of like diapers, wipes, onsies etc.

I've started looking for health insurance but I really should be looking for a pediatrician, especially since I'm really picky about healthcare providers. I have a birth plan and I've gone over the major stuff with my ob but I've been drilling my boyfriend and mom about everything so they can help make sure my wishes are met.

Well, def get on the pediatrician search! It's nice if your pediatrician visits you in the hospital and examines your baby there right away. It's important (IMO) to build a good rapport w/ him/her early on so you don't feel like you are calling up a stranger or that you are just a number or whatever if/when something goes wrong. My kids' ped really knew my kids and even knew the nickname my first one gave my second one when he was born. It made me feel like my kids were in good hands. (I felt so terrible when I moved a couple of yrs ago and needed to switch peds.)

You never know if a baby might come early or how early. You are almost fullterm now so you never know.

Really exciting! Enjoy it! Try to remember these days any way you can -- journaling, pictures, video, scrapbooks, etc. My kids really get a kick out of me telling them little things about when I was pregnant w/ them and when they were first born and when they were babies...I wish I had recorded/remembered more of it.

I'm due June 13th of this year. It's my first so everything is throwing me for a loop! Especially the constant heartburn!

spiderlashes5000 01-16-2014 11:54 AM

So...did you have the baby yet?? Looking fwd to an update...when you're ready. I hope all is well :)

Are you having a girl?

FrostiiLove 01-20-2014 10:51 AM

Hey everybody!

I had my little girl January 2 and she is doing so great! She was born tiny and tall like her mommy, 6.1 lbs and 18 inches long.

I woke up that morning feeling some intense cramps. Then about an hour later I started having contractions. I was going to ignore it but my boyfriend made me go in to L&D. I was 3 cm dilated but they told me I wasn't in labor. They had me on the monitors for an hour then checked me and I was 4 and fully effaced. They made me walk around for an hour and checked me again, I was 5 cm.

They put me in a birthing suite at 3:30 pm and that's about when the contractions intensified and at 10:34pm I had my little princess. Only 4 pushes and she was out, everyone joked that I got off easy because I was laughing and talking like I didn't just a watermelon through a penny.

I had a natural birth and it honestly wasn't the hellish nightmare everyone told me I was in for. Don't get me wrong it was painful but I basically used the same coping methods I use when I get anxiety attacks it worked pretty well.

spiderlashes5000 01-21-2014 02:48 PM

So glad to hear it. What did you name her?

FrostiiLove 01-22-2014 09:28 AM

Her daddy named her Sanaa, it means brilliance in Arabic.

Our baby was born on January 17th. It's a girl, named Eleanor Marie. She was 8 lb 2 oz and 21 inches long. We have two older sons, and are thrilled to have a girl now. Labor and delivery went great.

That's so nice! Congrats.

(Is it bad, I don't remember how much my second child weighed??? I have an idea but not 100% sure.)
