F--- others. Seriously. If you are feeling OK to work and you feel like working then it is your legal right to work. If it makes other people uncomfortable, that is their damn issue.

That's from the Pregnancy Discrimination Act and it's the LAW.

The baby was due on December 19, and I worked up through December 20, when our Christmas break began (I'm a teacher). He didn't come until December 31! Those last two weeks past my due date, I was feeling huge and uncomfortable, and I was glad to be home. Although, if it hadn't been Christmas break, I would have worked right up until he was born to mimimize the sick days I used.

I worked until 2 weeks before my due date, the baby was born a week late though (due Dec. 20th of 2006, born on Dec. 27th which still gave me a big tax break- YEA)...anyway because of that I had the baby 3 weeks after going on leave.

I went back to work 6 weeks postpartum this year, and still plan and hope to take some additional paid family leave sometime this year...hopefully without any crap from my employer like last time......

I planned to take of a week off before Audrey's due date. But, the second to last day I went home after a very long day and my water broke. She was born the next night.
