Ear tubes tomorrow

Xander is getting his tubes put in tomorrow. I know a few of you have been through them. Can you tell me what to expect? Will he be miserable? Will be be his usual self afterwards? Any tips?

I am really freaking mad right now. I had a hearing scheduled for tomorrow and told my boss that I would just go and miss the surgery. He said that under no circumstances could I do that and that he would cover it for me. Why did he just come in my office and tell me that he scheduled something else and that I will have to go to the hearing? WTF?!?! Now I get to be the crappy mom who skips her kid's surgery.

Thanks, Deedle and Medussa.

Oh no DarkAngel! WTF! is right. What an awful, insensitive thing for your boss to do I am so sorry. I'll be thinking good thoughts for both you and Xander tomorrow and keeping my fingers crossed that this will be the end of all his ear troubles!
Hair type: Completely confused: mostly 3a, some 3b parts, and even 2 in places; very fine and thin.

Thanks, Sweetpickles! Turns out my boss forgot that the reason he was going cover the hearing for me was the surgery. He thought that it was because I was worried about the legal arguments. My other boss is going to cover.

We got the call about the surgery. We have to have him there at 6am. I don't want to wake up that early.

Just thinking about you today DarkAngel and Xander.

Let us know how things went.
Hope everything goes well today. As for tips: the only things I really know about upkeep is to not let water in their ears and keep wind from blowing in there. My friend had tubes when I was younger and always had to put these clear gummy plugs in her ears before we went swimming or played in the sprinkler, etc. If she forgot her plugs, she used silly putty and it worked pretty good if it wasn't too hot outside. When it is too hot, it is too soft to use.
A closed mind is a wonderful thing to lose.

Glad you got to be there! I hope it all goes well - HUGS.

We're back! It went pretty well. Turns out his ears were infected again (or still infected) despite having just ended drugs 7 days ago. Poor guy can't catch a break. He shrieked the whole way home but they say that's an anesthesia reaction. He's sleeping it all off now.

good to hear it went well and hope the anaesthesia wears off soon.
I am glad to hear that it went well, DarkAngel.

Have you decided your next step yet?
