Ugh! Well, I wish I hadn't called! They got me all freaked out, and I honestly felt better after just listening to you guys. The nurse was trying to be nice I guess, and told me I shouldn't worry about it b/c if I'm losing the pregnancy, there's nothing anyone can do about it anyway. She did say it can be normal, but why even mention miscarriage to me if this is normal?? So of course I got off the phone in tears.
I'm sorry Bailey! Some people just have no idea how to talk to other human beings. She should have said "it's normal to have some cramps, but here are some signs you should look for if something's wrong."
Second-as others have said, I think most women have some mild cramping in the first few weeks of the 1st trimester, especially. If you have bleeding other than mild spotting accompanied by sharp or severe cramping, that's cause for concern. It's so upsetting how some people in the medical profession that are supposed to excel in bedside manner and compassion can have no common sense at times in how they deal with another human being....glad to hear the cramps are easing away...I understand how you feel-I went through 2 high-risk pg, the second with early bleeding, etc and lots of hosp visits where compassion was nowhere to be found on alot of occasions. Good luck with the information lines.
