So JJ it is!
I never heard that. Interesting. I'm curious also -How long does this last? Does this apply if someone on the street asks his name?

I'm interested in this, too. So when you take him to church or when he goes to school do you tell people his real name or his cover name?

In the old days, the cover name ALWAYS and the real name was only for the birth certificate and baptism. Now, he will obviously use his name for school and so on. People on the street I am not too worried about, but generally I only really want people I trust to know his name. Yeah, it's weird, I know.

That last one is pretty sweet. Love their little warm bodies.
Amneris, if you want, I can resize them for you so they fit on the page.

So, I gotta ask: is Amnreis your real name or cover name? (No, I am not a crazy stalker trying to get personal info- I'm just curious) As a matter of fact, Shelli isn't my real name either- and no it isn't Michelle). I have ALWAYS gone by it though and even my drivers liscence is signed Shelli.

Nope, it's not my real name!
It's not my original cover name either. My cover name is Sunshine.

This reminds me of the book, The Namesake, which centers on the tradition of giving children two names--their "real name" which is on the birth certificate, and a second name which is what everyone calls them.
Amneris, how often do you use your real name in real life? For example, do you introduce yourself to people with your real name or do you wait until you know them better to tell them? Sorry for all the questions, I just find this interesting

I use my real name pretty much all the time, because I live in this society. I used fake names when I did stuff like going to clubs, where I did not trust the people.

This is really interesting, and I do think there's truth to it. I had a random guy start talking to me at the bus stop once and he asked my name. For some reason, I felt very uncomfortable telling him my name, even though it was only my first name so it's not like he could look me up later. He caught me off guard so I told him, but I was later kicking myself for not making up some random name. I felt weird for days knowing some random person out there knows my name. I thought I was being crazy, but now I wonder if my feelings had something to do with some basic belief that there is power in a name.

I think there is power in a name, definitely. I feel the same way--for example, after I get off work, I always take my nametag off. For some reason, it makes me uneasy that anyone could just read my name. We're also allowed to wear fake names at work (e.g. "Ellie Fant") and I feel better wearing those than my real name sometimes.
Iris is not my real name either.

I definitely did this - my fake names were so silly. I was always surprised when guys really thought they were my name.
And Amneris is such a pretty name - I never came up with cool names like!
And wavezncurlz is not my real name either

I was in a traveling theater group in high school and used a stage name for that. When I got to college, I would go out at night and since I have a unique name and was the only one in the HUGE school with that name, sometimes guys would look me up in the school directory and show up at my door. I recall it happening at least 3-4 times.
I started using my stage name when I went out and by the end of college, nobody knew my real name. What's funnier is that my stepdaughter has my stage name!
