I wonder if this is the origin of nicknames or how nicknames came about. Our son has a nickname but I never really thought about it being a cover name.In the old days, the cover name ALWAYS and the real name was only for the birth certificate and baptism. Now, he will obviously use his name for school and so on. People on the street I am not too worried about, but generally I only really want people I trust to know his name. Yeah, it's weird, I know.So JJ it is!That your name is power, and telling someone your name is giving them power over you... people who wish your baby harm can hurt him if they know his name. So we have a real name and a "cover" name.Yeah- your labor hair looked great-i'm very jealous! Not to be nosy, but I am interested in superstitions. What is the superstition about sharing the name?
We call him JJ for short, so you guys can too!
I never heard that. Interesting. I'm curious also -How long does this last? Does this apply if someone on the street asks his name?
I'm interested in this, too. So when you take him to church or when he goes to school do you tell people his real name or his cover name?
