Default 2nd trimester - supposed to feel good right?

I keep reading that when you hit the second trimester you get a spurt of energy and you feel good. I don't feel good. I feel heavy, my back aches, and I am constantly tired. What's up with this?

Maybe I should add that my first trimester was very easy. I had no morning sickness. Aside from being tired, I was feeling pretty good.

Is the 2nd trimester energy boost a myth? Did anyone feel like I feel now?

You're not the only one. My back and hips are freaking killing me all the time. I'm definitely not tired or queasy like I was in the first trimester, but the second tri has brought its own problems.

Velvet paws, I'm having back and hip issues too. I have to travel this weekend and I'm not looking forward to sitting for an extended period of time. This is when I get stiff.

I am tired, queasy and in constant hip, groin and sciatic nerve pain. I've got it all.

I feel waaaaaay better! Definitely not like my pre-PG self, but much better than first trimester. I have heartburn, I feel fat, and I can't wear heels, but at least I don't go to sleep the moment I get home from work and I can go into a restaurant without wanting to puke.

VP - When I sit for a long time, it helps me to sit on something soft. I was having really bad hip pain until I folded up a blanket to put on my work chair. I also got a foot rest. If you have to travel, it might help if you can bring a pillow to sit on and put your feet up whenever possible.

That's probably it. If you didn't have any nausea to make you miserable in the first tri, you can't really appreciate the lack of it in the second. I never felt like WOO HOO GEE I FEEL TERRIFFIC but I didn't ALWAYS feel sick and that was a huge improvment.

Around 20 weeks, or the weeks in the 20s, I felt pretty crappy. Really uncomfortable, and back pain. I think I recall feeling "good" around month 6 or 7 - but really, do you ever feel GOOD when pregnant? I think it's usually as good as a pregnant woman CAN feel, but the truth is, for most people, you don't feel normal good until you're no longer pregnant anymore!

Yep yep...

I think I felt better both times in the second trimester, but to say I felt good would be a gross exaggeration

See, that's where I am now - 22 weeks. The pains just hit me like a hammer! And it seems like out of no where I got all big!

You are right, you don't feel really normal until you are not pregnant again - and that's not a feeling you feel right away!

I feel like the oddball here. I feel fine. I've felt fine the whole pregnancy so far. I'm only tired now and I think that's more due to the weather than anything else.

Little aches and pains, but no nausea, no constipation, no big complaints.

And I STILL don't really look pregnant - just roly poly!

Hey, believe me, I'm thanking god I've got it easy. Maybe after 6 rounds of chemo and whatnot, the health gods decided to stop *****-slapping me around!!

Be grateful! Hopefully, you'll feel that way the entire pregnancy.

ok - today wasn't so bad. The weather was less humid and I had fewer aches and pains.

I am looking forward to the weather breaking. I'm thinking fall will be very nice around here and that will make me feel better.

I know I'm not 2nd trimester, but my ankles hurt! I have started to switch to more flat shoes this week.

yeah, at your stage, you are just trying to make it to the end - AND YOU ARE SO CLOSE!

DH and I have a feeling she's coming within the next few weeks. I have a very strange feeling. Possibly it's just wishful thinking

I just went on a 4 hour sea-kayaking trip today! I feel great!!

I had a crappy first trimester, and so far the 2nd trimester is going pretty well. I still have bouts of nausea (I threw up in the furniture store bathroom last weekend) but my energy is definitely back.
