Hi I know there was a PCOS board on the health/hair board but I have another topic... I was wondering if anyone here has or had PCOS and was able to have children once they receieved treatment. I don't want to have a child right now (I have a 2 year old and a 1 year old currently), but it makes me sad that I might never have children again and I'm not even 25! I just feel like I want to make that choice to have more if I want to, and I feel like that's been stolen from me by this diease. Any experince or ideas? Thanks

If you've had 2 babies in 2 years, what makes you think you won't be able to have more in the future?

Because I have PCOS... I haven't had a period in 6 months or more really. Do you know what PCOS is and what it does to your body?

Yeah, I do. PCOS is a major cause of infertility, but PCOS women do have babies. The fact that you have had babies is very much in your favor for future pregnancies. I know several women who have had successful pregnancies with fairly severe PCOS. They had a little help with drugs though.

I thought the current recommendations were to induce uterine bleeding every 3-4 months? You probably shouldn't go so long without a period.

ITA with RCW, that if you have PCOS and you all ready have two children, that should be a good indication that you might be able to have more children in the future.

I guess I didn't make it clear that I didn't know nor have sysptoms (at least no missed periods ever) until AFTER my second child was already born.

Well I also have children who have passed on so I guess that's not in my favor. I was told I was very lucky to have my children very young because I most likely won't be having anymore. I was told this by two doctors and an NFP teacher. I know several women who have it and they cannot carry children past ten weeks. I was told that I've most likely had it since my teenage years and that it only got more severe as time went on. I don't know about getting medication for having a period my doctor didn't recommed it but my NFP teacher did so maybe I ought to look into it. I'm think I most likely won't have children because I've been on meds since august and it hasn't done anything so I'm not getting my hopes up. Is there anyone on this site who actually has POCS or POCD? If so how long have you been taking med's and did it help?

Chances are most of the women on NC.com who have PCOS and struggle to conceive/will never have kids are not going to be hanging out in the pregnancy forum, there are a lot more threads about PCOS in the non-hair board and the hormone board.

One of my old bosses has PCOS and just had her second child this past summer. Her first child was an oops baby.

The only complication she had was that, with the first, she couldn't remember the last time she had a period. They could only rely on ultrasound to figure out how far along she was. She didn't know she was pregnant for a very long time and the ultrasound dated the fetus at 6 months, however, he was just a big boy. The doctor induced her thinking he was full-term, but he wasn't. He's fine. No damage, but it was a little scary.

With the second child she had a normal pregnancy and kiddo is fine.
