Is this true?

I read the following on Babycenter.com. Could this possibly be true?

As long as your not high risk YES. Have him ejaculate on your cervix as much as possible! My labor was so fast and easy because my cervix was so ripe. I was 4 cm for 2 weeks before the baby was born! (and my doc said I could still have sex even when I was dilated). I was 12 days late, and we had sex right up to the very end...of course we're a bit over sexual. But I give him credit for a smooth delivery.

Will ejaculating into the cervix really rippen the cervix?
The prostaglandins in semen ripen (soften) the cervix, but they won't cause dilation or labor to start, unfortunately (although orgasms cause uterine contractions which may be able to trigger labor).

Does that writer think she's the first person ever to have sex in late pregnancy? Plenty of women do the same thing, and they don't all have 4 cms dilated cervixes for 2 weeks and "smooth" deliveries.

Yes, semen contains prostaglandins that can help ripen the cervix and maintaining a healthy sexual relationship til the end of pregnancy can help facilitate labor. But it's not a miracle or guarantee.

Stick it in there as far as you can and get it right on the cervix!" Just getting in the mood is hard enough for me at this point, I can't imagine trying to have sex while paying that much attention to the technical details.

This in a nutshell is why I stopped going to babycenter.com

This makes me think of that stupid Head On ad. "Apply directly to the forehead!"

"Ejaculate directly ON the cervix!!!!!!"

And yeah, pretty much why babycenter is just comedy relief for me.

Geeky is my hero. She's the true badass. The badass who doesn't even need to be a badass. There aren't enough O's in cool to describe her.
I stopped going to babycenter.com long ago. The forums there just seemed like a bunch of holier-than-thou super-parents who do nothing but get snarky with each other. Least that's the way it used to be, haven't been in a few years.

I remember one thread in particular where someone asked about diaper rash ointments, there was like 1 post that actually answered the question and several pages of threads calling each other bad parents for ever allowing their kids to get diaper rash.
Most of the internet pregnancy sites are seriously annoying - they are full of neurotic people who spread paranoia. I got really fed up with them when in my ninth month, someone posted trying to freak everyone out about stillbirth and how if you did not feel the baby move for an hour you should show up in the ER demanding attention. Babycenter had a lot of over-the-top stuff if I recall.

And why would you NOT be able to have sex if you are dilated? What does one have to do with the other? The only reason not to have sex in late pregnancy is if you are generally uncomfortable, isn't it?

If the bag of water is broken, you would probably want to refrain. Simple dilation would have no bearing on sexual activity in a full-term pregnant woman, which is what makes that writer's statement so absurd.

I do like the weekly pictures though.

I know doctors can be intimidating, but if you were just at the office, why didn't you ask them to explain it to you?

My second I don't think we had sex in the last trimester and the labor was pretty much the same.
