I have an idea of when I would ideally like to be pregnant with #2, and I already have a gig lined up that would be when I would be coming up on 8 months IF all goes according to plan. With this pregnancy, my last gig was at about 7 months and I had a dress that I wore, but it was a less formal performance and a different season than this one will be. I was looking at maternity clothes on-line for a pregnant friend and I saw a GORGEOUS dress suitable for performing on sale for a fantastic reduction, so I ordered it - I couldn't resist.

I hope I did not jinx myself either into getting pregnant sooner than I want or into not getting pregnant when I start trying again. But I really love NICE maternity clothes, and they aren't that easy to find. I like to be pregnant and chic

On that topic, did anyone here get pregnant while breast feeding? How did it work out? Were the breasts very sensitive? Has anyone breast fed an older toddler and a baby together? My preference is to wean my son before I am pregnant with #2 and have a break, but I am thinking I would like to get pregnant a month or two after his second birthday, so what if he is not ready to quit? Or what if my cycles are delayed that long? So I'm thinking I may need to wean him some time after 18 months but before 2, but is that too soon for child-led weaning?

I tried and tried to get pregnant when I was nursing my daughter, but was unable to. I had gotten my cycle back and presumably I was fertile, but I wasn't getting pregnant. I got pregnant the month after she weaned, so I can only think that breastfeeding was a very good birth control method for me.

I didn't wean her just so I could get pregnant though. I let her self wean. She was 19 months when she self-weaned.

got pregnant while nursing both times. I also tandemned and this will be our second go of it.

Just remember that when tandem nursing it doesn't have to be an all or nothing (weaning or two babies nursing like newborns). While a lot of older kids pick up nursings when your milk comes in PP they either drop them after a while or you set limits.

With Ian that meant he would nurse at naptime and bedtime. He was also nightweaned before Ryan was born so that wasn't an issue. Ryan is nightweaning right now. There's a good book out there but I haven't read it called "Adventures In Tandem Nursing".

I conceived my second while nursing my first. I didn't get a post partum af until she was 11mos, I charted my cycles and unded up pg when she was 13mos? She nursed until I was about 8weeks pg.
My nipples were a little more sore, heartburn (my usual pg sign), and cravings. My supply stayed the same, she was only nursing a couple of times a day and decided she was done. I am not sure my milk really ever dried up, or if it just hung around while I was pg.

I got pregnant with #2 while I was still pumping for #1 (I exclusively pumped).

I wasn't getting my period, but I knew I wanted to start trying for #2 so I cut out a few pumps a day and within a month or so I ovulated. I got my period once and got knocked up the next month.

Once I found out I was pg I pump weaned. I was just too tired to continue with pumping, but if I was actually nursing, I would have tried to stick with it until the one year mark.

My breasts were much less tender the second time around so I don't think nursing would have bothered me. If they were as tender as they were the first time I would say no way to nursing while pg.

I got pg with #2 while nursing #1, and #3 while nursing #2.

#1 & #2 were both 11 months old when I got pg with the next. With both, the milk took longer to let down. Before pregnancy the milk came in right away.
#1 didn't care that the milk wasn't coming down as quickly, but I needed to wean him around the 2nd month because I was exhausted. I thought it tandem nursing was causing the exhaustion, but it was just being pg. He was ready to wean and we didn't have any problems.
#2 was impatient and didn't want to wait the 5 min. for the milk to let down, so she weaned herself within days.
Breast tenderness wasn't a symptom of pg for me, but being extremely snappish and cranky was. That's how I realized I was pg (w/i days) with #2. I waited about 2 weeks to take a test. With #3 the only symptom was a skipped period. That one I lost.

My mom got pg with my sister when I was 4 months old. That's also the month I weaned myself. I don't know if that's because she was already pg and I weaned like my daughter, or if my weaning caused my mom to ovulate.
My sister weaned herself when she was 4 months old, too, but mom wasn't pg at the time. My sister prefered to be fed by our dad.

got preg when kd was 18 mos. we were night nursing at the time. i was trying. we weaned shortly after b/c i could not take the nipple pain

DS had weaned about 4 months before I got pregnant so I have no experience but I wanted to ditto the above. I think I could have nursed while pregnant with #2. I had no breast tenderness.

With regards to considering weaning in order to get pregnant (if you find yourself in that situation), I do know women who started by nightweaning and that was all it took to get back their period.
