Online pregnancy mothering groups/forums

Are their any you would recomend? Other than this board of course.

I joined mothering.com, but for some reason I found it intimidating to post there. They do have a wealth of information, and I have searched for specific things there. As cheesy as it sounds, this forum was really all I needed. There are some very knowledgeable ladies here always willing to answer questions.

I post on Ivillage most frequently. I have liked it for the most part. I lurk on Mothering. I tend to get the answers to my hard questions or support for strange situations from here. The smaller group is less intimidating to me. Plus, the mothers here are more likely to be honest about the fact that being a mom is not all puppies and rainbows.

I don't have any recommendations on where to go, but I can say one place not to go. babycenter.com forums. The website is nice, but the forums, least when I had my first son, it was terrible there. I seen threads about diaper rash ointment turn into name calling and accusations of child abuse/neglect. It seemed like every single thread was pages and pages long, but there would only be 1 or 2 answers and the rest of the posts were people criticizing everyone for their "bad parenting". It was shocking how nasty and mean some of these people were, all the while claiming to be the most perfect parents who always just automatically knew what to do, and never made any mistakes or had any doubts.

I have no clue if it's still like that, and no desire to find out.
I lurk on many a board. Yar!

Mainly...

Ovusoft
Kellymom
Mothering
The Babywearer

I too find Mothering to be a bit intimidating. It's like a contest of who is more earthy-crunchy. I've also seen things like cympreni mentioned, mainly on Ovusoft. Kellymom is heavily moderated, but they really aim to give people solutions more than discussion. I joined the Babywearer so I could read reviews, but there are some great tips and video instructions there.

Ok. That just shows how addicted I am to message boards.

I lurk, therefore, I am.
My Blog
I lurk a lot on mothering.com. There is a wealth if information, but like people have said, they tend to be way crunchy.
I also lurk on babycenter. Mostly for entertainment, because they are just full of idiocy. There are a few boards on there with knowledgeable people. Some of the more specific topical boards have good info but the general boards and birth clubs are often full of drama and stupidity.
I lurk on The Babywearer too.

Geeky is my hero. She's the true badass. The badass who doesn't even need to be a badass. There aren't enough O's in cool to describe her.
I was banned from babycenter. I know *gasp* the horror! I've been on mothering since about '04 but stick to certain areas more than others out of preference.

I belong to a board I consider the perfect mix of the great features in mothering without the "outdoing" aspect and that's where I'm on a daily basis.
I tended to like due-month boards better than boards that emphasized one particular aspect of parenting like cloth diapers or breastfeeding or boards where people were at all stages of pregnancy/parenting. I just felt closer to the fellow posters on due-month boards because we were all going through similar things at the same time.

AOL used to have the best due-month boards. Alas, they disbanded them. I am still in a group from the AOL boards that posted together when we were all having babies in January 1998 (they let me stay even though my baby was born December 31, 1997 ). Almost 11 years we've been together, and we still post together on a private forum on Delphi. The babies (now 10 year olds) post together on a website of their own.
RCW - I'm on a similar spin off board from our original 10/03 due date board. We've been posting together since we got pregnant with those babes and it's a smallish group of about 20 moms.

This is why I mostly refrain from posting.

I love http://www.wearebamily.com/forums/index.php.

I have belonged to them for quite a while. They have moved a couple of times but the same people keep coming back.
ive really been enjoying cafemom.com

there are tons of groups to join with interests ranging from breastfeeding, local moms, babies born in x month of y year, and women who date mexicans.
I probably use this board the most, but I also lurk at mothering.com, thebabywearer.com, and diaperswappers.com when I have the time or the desire.
