Symptoms during early pregnancy?
My husband and I have been married for almost two years. I'm a late bloomer. I'm 38. We're trying to get pregnant. It's been a frustrating experience.
Lately, my breasts have felt tender, and I seem extra PMS'y. I'm typically not PMS'y, actually.
If it is just a bad case of PMS, it's about a week early. I'm usually lightly spotting for a few days before my period, and right now no spotting.
I feel it's too early to take a pregnancy test, but if I don't have my period by the end of the week, I'm going to do so.
What are symptoms in an early pregnancy? I'm talking like a week or two into a pregnancy. Is there any?
Is this wishful thinking on my part?
Part of the PMS'y symptoms is I've been getting irritable much easier...things tick me off more. I don't lose my temper, I'm not that type...but I can feel it. I also have been laughing more, too...so it isn't all bad. Things seem funnier to me. Cramping a little...but if it was my period, I don't cramp this far in advance. I was cramping all day yesterday (mildly) and still no signs of a period today. Hmmm! Head aches too, but I get them often anyways, so I don't if that's part of the equation here or not.
Whatever it is...I bet it's hormonal!
Did you have symptoms during early pregnancy? If so, what?

take a test!! buy the cheap ones from the $1 store. they work. just know if it's too early it might show negative but if your period doesn't come and you keep testing it will show positive.
but at some point the symptoms are breast tenderness and being pretty tired (fatigued).

For a lot of women, unfortunately, pregnancy symptoms are very similar to PMS symptoms. But there were a few things that clued me in before the +hpt: a metallic taste in my mouth, an extra strong sense of smell and a strong pulsing in my neck/ears.

I usually have mild PMS and it felt like PMS on steroids. My breasts were SO sore. I was also exhausted, felt so nauseated in a smoke filled casino to the point that I HAD to go back up to my room (visiting Vegas) and I was craving orange soda.
I took the test the day after my husband and I got home.

My early symptoms were just like PMS. I didn't take a pregnancy test because I kept expecting to get my period.
I hope it's good news, Boomy! I know you have been trying. Take the test!

I'm already tired, slow, and clumsy...let's hope it doesn't get worse! LOL
Thanks so far for the responses!
Keep 'em coming!
And as a bonus, if I do find out I'm pregnant, NC.com will be my first on-line friends to know. My hubby and my mother will come before you, of course. LOL
I actually don't want to tell anyone else in real life, until I'm further along...but I'll tell my husband, my mother, and YOU (collective you).

You just reminded me of something. With this pregnancy, one major clue was my inability to finish my beloved glass of chardonnay. It's not like me to not be able to finish a good glass of wine. This happened exactly at 7dpo.

With my first, I was ridiculously tired. I kept falling asleep on the couch way before my usual bedtime. I just could not stay awake.

Well I'm probably out of the norm, but I had no clue. My first symptom was my clothes feeling tight. I couldn't figure out why my clothes were all fitting a bit more snug.
Otherwise my symptoms were pretty typical of what I experience before my period starts. Though I did have some very small light pink spotting (one tissue wipe) that occurred before I expected my period... I didn't think much of it at the time.

I say take a test now and another in a week if needed.
If you have enough pregnancy hormones flowing to make you feel like that, it could be enough to show up on a test if that's the case.

I agree-test now. If you are experiencing pregnancy-related symptoms, there usually should be enough of the hormone being tested for in your body to show a light +. My symptoms with my first-the sore boobs and extreme exhaustion. It didn't dawn on me until very late for various reasons, and I also just thought the crunches weren't working on my belly anymore...fingers crossed for you .

IDK, Boomy, but good luck. I never had any symptoms to clue me into being pregnant. I had a family member ask me how far along I was. I told her that I wasn't pregnant. She said, yes, you are. I took a test just to prove her wrong. I was proven wrong.
I guess breast tenderness, nausea, vomiting, being extra tired, or weird food sensitivities.

PMS, but with a difference I couldn't put my finger on. My boobs were rock rock.
I remember that last time I went out before I knew I was pregnant. We went out for a friend's birthday dinner. I HATE mushrooms, but that night I tore them up. My Hubby (then boyfriend) kept looking at me funny. Usually when there are mushrooms in my food, they find themselves in a small pile on the side of my plate. Then when we went out to the club, I didn't feel like drinking anything. Actually I felt like I was dying. I got dizzy, and started to sweat. Some guy tried to chat me up about my hair. I was trying not to be rude. Maybe he thought the sweating was dance related. The club was packed and all I wanted was a glass of water. I finally ran into the bathroom and drank from the faucet
Class.

So you're due for your period next week? How long is your cycle, normally?
Get a 3-pack of "early result" tests from Target - their brand is like $9.99 for a three-pack. Take a test now and if it's negative, wait 2-3 days then try again.

I had been having a massive craving for some pot roast, carrots, and potatoes. Then, I had one night of what I thought was the beginning of my period, but it turned out to be spotting. That's what clued me in and made me take the test. I then noticed the next day that I was just exhausted and my breasts were so sore. I remember having sex that night and my husband/I had to hold them because I didn't want to keep my bra on.

I remember having really, really sore breasts, a bad taste in my mouth all the time, and being extra horny.

Do you have a dollar tree in your area?
The tests are $1 and quite accurate. They look just like the tests used in most hospitals and physician offices. There's no reason to spend $5 or $10 on a test.

I felt like I was just a little bit hung over all the time. My breasts were sore and I feel asleep twice in the afternoon one weekend and I never do that. Mainly I just felt hung over. I got sick feeling in the morning but never threw up, once I had to get out of the shower and lay on the bathroom floor till it passed. Oh and I was HUNGRY. I eat a lot anyway but it's never usually due to actual stomach growling. One night I ate a steak, potatoes and dessert and literally 2 hours later my stomach was growling like I hadn't eaten all day...crazy!
