Frequent Ear Infections - Tubes?

Ah, yeah, I had really bad ear infections from age 5, and they only really stopped last year (age 14). I went on so many antibiotics, and at age 7 I had tubes put in. It's a quick procedure, but they did pretty much nothing for me. One of them fell out (and it was super clogged), and my ENT doctor pulled out the other one (That hurt.). My family found out later that a mix of garlic and olive oil works well in the ear. I haven't had a problem for over a year (except for occasional stuffiness, but I think I'll live with that forever), so I'd say go with something natural. The tubes were a waste of time...
Well we finally had our ENT appointment today. The timpanogram (sp?) still showed mild hearing loss. Given this and his speech delay and sensory issues, we are having tubes put in. I hope it helps. We have surgery scheduled for 4/27.

In the last month, she's gone from not walking at all to running (the doctor figures the muck in her ears was affecting her balance); she wasn't even acknowledging her name when you called and now she's signing and identifying body parts and trying to sing along with songs. She's so happy and playful.

I hope your experience is as postive as ours. ((hugs))

Bumping up! We go tomorrow at 7 AM with the procedure scheduled for 8:30. Harry's doctor phobia has been better lately, but I'm worried this might set him off. Wish us luck!

Good luck!

The worst part is that they can't eat after midnight so Harry will be a crabby boy. Bring some snacks for post-op.

He did great! No screaming or crying. Bounced back before we even got home. We have some drops we have to do for 3 days because of residual fluid, but that is easy. I am curious to see what changes might occur. I have been testing his hearing by saying his name at different volumes. He looked every time. There's progress right there!
