Does my hair love or hate protein?

I just jumped from the high porosity section after finding a post about how to tell if your hair has high or low. I was able to run my finger from the end to the root no problems. im sure if i had the right tools i could play a note with my strands of hair like a violin lol.

Anyways I got to thinking which hair products I have used in the past that my hair loved and the only ones were the Profectiv line. I used the pink, yellow and green canisters. My hair was relaxed at the time but it was the only product that kept my hair moist and the softest it has ever been. I also did not experience excess oil buildup, or flakes or any nastiness. It seemed like my hair ate it and loved it.

So after searching hours for the product (I forgot the name) and then more hours finding a site that would list the ingredients, I was hoping if I posted the ingredients maybe you all could tell me why my hair likes the product. I am thinking maybe a lack of protein or a whole lot of protein, or maybe not protein at all but something else.

If I can pinpoint why my hair likes this product Ill either start buying the product or buying alternatives.

Here are the ingreidents:

Thank you for any input!!!
Well, I'm no expert (probably know just enough to be dangerous), but here's what I think:

The ingredients in both the products you listed do contain several types of proteins (Hydrolyzed Keratin, Hydrolyzed Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Protein and Hydrolysed Vegetable Protein in the Root-Health Anti-Dryness Strengthener; Hydrolyzed Avena Sativa (Oat) Protein, Hydrolyzed Glycine Soja (Soybean) Protein, Silk Amino Acids, and Hydrolyzed Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Protein in the Healthy Ends Daily Anti-Split End & Deep Repair). So, it would stand to reason that your hair probably likes proteins if it responded well to those products. You mentioned that at the time you were using these, your hair was relaxed; from what I've read about protein, it's generally recommended for hair with high porosity, which, from what I understand, usually occurs when hair is damaged by heat and chemical processing (such as frequent blow-drying, flat-ironing, coloring it or perms/relaxers).

The other thing I noticed about the ingredients is that in addition to containing items with well-known conditioning/moisturizing properties, both products contain glycerin (and maybe other humectants?), so that may also be something your hair responds well to. I'm not as familiar with these, but from what I've read, these ingredients work well in climates with high humidity and dew points.

Hopefully someone with more experience and knowledge than me will add to this. Otherwise, I would say stick with the protein as it seems to agree with your hair, and maybe experiment with glycerin, humectants, etc. to figure out what else your hair likes.

HTH!
2c/3a, botticelli/wavy/'swavy (huh?)
fine, dense, normal porosity/elasticity, dry climate

My favorite brands are Kinky Curly, As I am, Curly Kinks, Curl Junkie, and Darcy's Botanicals. Also love sealing with oils (loving argan oil right now) and styling with jelly products (KCCC is my current favorite). Mostly trying to keep it simple!
