First protein treatment results!

I've only been cg about 3 weeks, and i've had two DCTs in that time. I have fine hair and a lot of it, and when I got my devacut she did a DCT on me, then a few days ago I took a 20 minute bath with my one conditioner just sittin in my hair. Afterwards, my hair was SUPER soft and bouncy and shiny which are good things, but my curl pattern VANISHED. I went from a 2c with some 3as tossed in to a 2a overnight. oopsie.

I bought a few cheapo hi pro pacs at the store yesterday, and I used one that I think is the more gentle kind with just keratin and wheat protein. t-shirt scrunching my hair dry out of the shower, I immediately noticed more of a curl pattern wet than I usually have. Now that its been gelled and diffused, i'm sort of astonished. I have more volume, more definition and no frizz. I ALWAYS have frizz, my hairs themselves are so thin. I think i'm going to love protein

Certainly! I believe it was Hi*Pro*Pak Keratin Replenish Masque. I got mine from the grocery store (HEB if you're a texan), I think it was less than 2 bucks. I got a couple others I can't remember the name of that looked to be a stronger treatment, and a deep conditioning olive oil masque and Cantu shea leave-in all in that trip too, but I haven't tried any of those yet.

yay a hair twin! I sort of hate having so much fine hair. It just all sticks together in the shower like a big dog hair mat lol. God help me if I ever try to flip it upside down when its wet, it has no slip at all without product and my curls arent well defined and it all just sticks together like a wet Q tip.

Also as an update sKorpio, today I have frizzies again. The only thing I can think is that i've been no-pooing too much (probably 3 times a week). I'm an LMT and I sweat at work and wanna take a shower and scrub the ickies out of my hair. I think if I lay off the no-poo and just co-wash with my V05 maybe it'll be a bit better. I also didn't condition after that protein treatment, partly for laziness and partly cause I wanted to see what would happen lol

I'm currently cowashing with as I am coconut cowash and I DC once a week but my hair remains frizzy so hopefully protein will be the solution! Nice to have a hair twin ur right :-)
Medium texture, normal porosity, normal elasticity
As far as the frizzies go I think i'm going to start really trying to pay attention to how much I touch my hair when i'm styling it too. i'm starting to think when I SOTC of my gel set i'm scrunching too much, and I should just do it as little as possible.
I remember when I got my devacut she touched my hair a LOT, and made me shake my head upside down to separate the curls. I also pixie method diffuse, and she had the diffuser on full blast the whole time, which made me cringe a little. Whatever she did worked well though, but if I ever were to shake my head upside down at home when my hair is damp, my curls all fall out completely and rescrunching them just makes it go all wet-frizz. My bestie has gorgeous 3a/3b hair (now that shes discovered CG, it used to be all brillow pad-ish) and her hairs themselves are thick and course. she hates them but i'd kill to have a bit more thickness to mine.

I'm sick of trying so many products. I have tried at least 50 by now with still no luck :-/ I thought teh As I Am line was working for me but now I'm not so sure. Ugh
I'm going to try one of my other treatments today and see what happens! This time though I think i'll follow it with a DT.

yeah it seems rather overwhelming trying to figure out all this stuff and all the products that are available and how something thats amazing for one person (and expensive) wont work for you and then you're out 20 bucks for stuff you dont even want to use.

I'm trying to give the devacurl stuff a shot, since thats what I have right now, although i'm thinking today I may order one or two things off curlmart. I'm leaning away from the deva curl gel though. I have the light hold, and I dont know if i'm not using enough or if its just that its light hold, but I think I like my la looks sports gel better. My cut is a step up from what I HAD (I hadn't had a professional cut in 5 years, I just trimmed it myself and it was long and heavy and a pain in the ass) but I'm noticing that the clumps i'm getting now are apparently different than the clumps I had when she styled me, because I have clumps with one or two longer hairs floofing out from the ends, and i'm having to trim those off every few days when I see them. They layering she gave me works well though.

Right now i just use no-poo, one conditioner as my RO and LI, and gel. Its hard to experiment and figure out what works best though because with my job my hair is pulled up anyway so styling I do Is pulled out by the end of the day. most of my experimenting happens on my days off.

I do no poo as well, I just clarify once a week and now I'll try it with a protein treatment instead of deep conditioner. Normally I just do rinse out conditioner and gel nd/or LI conditioner. I hear what you mean about the job. When I pull my hair back at work and let it back down it stays stretched out and weird looking lol. Half straight in the front from whatever I pulled back and the rest curly/wavy. Smh. I feel ur pain. That's why I love experimenting on the weekends when I can stay home in case I end up with a giant frizzball on my head :-P
so todays experiment was with a "hi pro pac extremely damaged hair protein treatment"
I left that in for 5 minutes or so, the followed that with the cantu shea DT for a couple minutes. Put some extra on my canopy, scrunched with a t shirt, gelled the ever-living bajesus outta my hair with a mix of devacurl and la look sport, plopped for probably an hour, then just let air dry with some clips in the roots.

The results are... unexpected.
I didn't overly break up my curls when I SOTC cause I wanted to see if less touching meant less frizz, and I have what I can only describe is shirly temple curls, but if you were to take them and stretch them out. big clumps (more broken up in back though) and very loose long spirals.
This coming from a 2c who only gets spirals on a lucky day, and maybe only 2-3 that I can actually see and always are hidden underneath.

Now i'm starting to wonder if I had diffused, if these spirals would be more tight. *sigh* the experimentation never ends!
I PM'ed you
