Protein RO or LI?

I was wondering what everyone's preference was...to use a protein rich RO condish or do you like to use a protein rich LI instead?

I don't need much protein, and my hair is picky about which proteins to use, but I prefer protein in my rinse outs. If I leave any protein in...my hair dries out. My fine hair loves some silk/keratin proteins in a daily rinse out.

My hair LOVES protein, so I'll do both, plus PTs. I frequently use the milder PTs as my leave in.

my heir had hated protein for a long time but my curls were limp so I used a rinse put with protien and my hair perked back up. However I used the protein rinse out for a week and my hair became dry. I did a deep treatment last night and my hair is back to normal. so once a week for my protein rinse out but I just got a shampoo with protein in it so that will be my dose evey few days. I cant leave protein in my hair

I do both because my hair is low porosity and it takes awhile to absorb things. It really depends on what your hair likes/needs.

I have low porosity too and both work best for me

I do both. My hair eats up protein like crazy.

I use an intensive rinse out - Komaza Care - I need to concentrate on hydration on a daily basis.

Firefox, we have similar hair properties and I noticed you list Sleek and Shine as your LI. I'm assuming you aren't CG since that has cones in it. Does you hair respond better to non-CG or have you tried CG?

I have been full Curly Girl for over two years - not even water soluble silicones - apparently I don't have horrible unmanageable poufy 'straight' hair!

Got caught out by new formula Repair & Shine (Triple Nutrition) which made my hair lose all its body and curl and revert to the 'horrible unmanageable' state. Now using a stash of old formula Sleek & Shine found in a pound shop (dollar store). I hope Garnier lost a ton of long hair and curly girl customers with that reformulation, grrrr.

I have used Sleek and Shine in the past and liked the product, but had to retire it when I attempted CG. I'm thinking about giving up on CG altogether and doing what works for my hair.

That's really what it comes down to in the end. I was full CG for quite a while (about a year without knowing it, then added a silicone serum, again without any knowledge of CG). After I found this site I did strict CG for six months, but eventually started adding a few non-CG products here and there. The difference was that I had the understanding of what ingredients did what and how to balance protein and moisture. I probably stick with CG products about 85% of the time, but I have found a few products with cones that I really like (as well as a gentle, pH balanced sulfate shampoo).
