I love Aubery Organics Works great for me. At the moment I'm trying to find a great curl enhancer...gaaah...I've recently used Curl Keeper but it seems to enhance my 2c waves and I lose my 3a spirals I used to get often. =/

The best results I've had was when I used Aubery Organics GPB for the first time and left it in for say 20-25 minutes then used Shea Moisture Restorative Conditioner as a rinse out and a little for a leave in. I can't remember if I used a gel...hmmm.

Anywho...Thinking about doing this routine again tomorrow but I think this time I'm going to purchase a protein rich - glycerin-free gel from Ulta Called Abba Pure Finish Gel.

I used Shea Moisture's Souffle again today(it's been about 2 months since I last used it) and my hair just looks nasty to me. I have my spirals, but I just hate how unnatural my overall hair looks.

If anyone knows of a great curl enhancer, I'm all ears.

Hi everyone, I'm back from London!

First the bad news: I didn't find Aubrey Organics GPB. You wouldn't believe how far we've walked (we could have taken the tube but I'm all about exercising and stuff) and got bad luck with getting that over and over again, so I just ordered it online via iHerb.com. Hope it arrives sooner than expected (they said it probably takes about 15 working days to arrive). Can't wait!

The good news is that I've had pretty good hair the past week. Seems like cutting out the heavy oil conditioner works. Second to sixth day routine consisted of using my spray bottle with just water until really wet, then applying CJ CQ (a pretty large amount). When that's completely dry, I take a pea-size amount of CJ CCCL which suddenly is not too oily for me any more now that I cut out my oily conditioner. I SOTC with that and have nice, natural hair all day. Best hair days were on drizzly, rainy days. It's always been like that for some reason. I think using AO GPB will restore the protein-moisture balance.

The other good news is that we've had a great time :-) How are you all doing, both in the normal sense and hair-wise?

I've been gone for a while (work), so I wasn't able to hop on... I am looking forward to hearing how you like the GPB.

My work involves a lot of hiking, sweating, sunscreen, bug spray, and poison oak removal goo. I wound up having to use extra shampoo, whatever I could find in my hotel room. My hair was looking pretty fried after several weeks of this, plus wearing it in a tight ponytail under a hat, etc.

I picked up some Joico K-Pak, because I've heard good things about it from other protein lovers around this forum. It has ingredients I wouldn't normally choose, but as a deep treatment I'm OK with them. I washed my hair with a low-poo, dried it in a flour sack for a while, and then combed a liberal amount of the K-Pak through my hair, making sure to plaster my ends. I put a plastic bag over it, and a wool hat over that, and read for half an hour before rinsing.

The result? Happy happy hair. Not perfect, but the ends aren't all frayed-wire any more and the frizz has died down. So I'm back to the normal routine, but I'm going to try to use this once a week, too.

I finally received GPB! I did a PT last Wednesday to see if that was what gave me great hair while I was in London but I can't wait to try it. Will do so on Tuesday. Does anyone have tips? I'm thinking about just low-pooing, then using GPB as a RO.

After reading this thread I was convinced I needed protein and got some gpb. Wrong! My hair is now practically straight! It is very soft except for the ends which are a bit fried. I'm a bit confused now. Can I be both over conditioned and proteined? This balance game is driving me nuts. Hope it works better for y'all!

Oh help, I have high hopes for GPB so your story scares me a bit, artcurls. I've already spent so much on products that my hair didn't like.

Was AO GPB the only thing you changed in your routine? What did you do and what other products did you use?

I received mine yesterday and noticed that there are some oils in it. My hair hates oils so I hope this goes well. I don't know why I haven't noticed this before ordering it.

I treated it like a conditioner, after shampoo, (no poo) not a DT. I did it like that 2 days in a row (no shampoo the 2nd day) and by yesterday my curls vanished. No other products were added. I have not touched my hair sense letting it just "chill" out. Yesterday morning I ran all over town returning products I've gotten and did work. I understand how you feel! My hair doesn't really like oils either. They weigh it down. Wish I had better news for you, I know you went through trouble to get this!!

We'll see whether my hair likes it. I only wash it once a week so perhaps that works better. My hair is prone to getting overconditioned so two days in a row would be too much. Actually, I haven't used conditioner for a month now because my CJ conditioner is one oil-bomb (I thought I had coarse hair so it made sense to get that one).

Perhaps one of the other girls here knows how to make it work :-)

Definitely don't make your decision based on my experience! that would be the blind leading the blind.
When you say you don't wash your hair but once a week do you just get it wet? Straight I can easily go a week. Curly my hair would look like a rat's nest. But daily conditioning is proving to be too much also.

I re-wet my hair, yes. Basically, I low-poo and style it. Day two to six, I use a spraybottle with just water to re-wet it, then follow up with my styling routine which is the same every day. I've done it like this for years so washing it twice a week would be weird for me.

Although I use really rich products, I can't use the SM Coconut & Hibiscus. It too heavy--if you get the difference. It just sits on my hair and doesn't absorb.

I did my first PT last week, my hair looked amazing after. And even got great 2nd day hair! But my past 2 washes haven't been so nice it looked absolutely horrible, frizz everywhere!! So I had to put it up. Yesterday I washed my hair, clarified and deep conditioned and my hair looks better but still not 100% happy with results though!!

I finally tried AO GPB this morning. My first hair days are always my worst hair days, but I think it's not too bad. First my routine today:

- Washed it with a sulfate shampoo to remove the build-up from the polyquats (can't wait to get a polyquat-free styler!)
- Low-pood (just to make sure my hair would be REALLY clean)
- Applied GPB, then put it in a bun
- Did all the other things I had to do while showering
- Rinsed it
- Applied CJ CQ
- Scrunched out the water
- Plopped for 10-20 minutes (not sure, lost track of time).

My hair looked great whilst being wet but my curls need more hold and support because they're too heavy Still, my hair looks much better than before on the first day. I still have quite some waves. I know my hair is much curlier than you can tell right now, but it could be worse.

As for GPB: I was surprised by the consistency. It didn't feel as oily and slippery as past conditioners or the argan oil one by CJ. I need to get used to the smell but I do like it. I think my hair likes protein, although it does feel more straw-like than usual. Probably, my hair could use some moisture, but this might be due to the combination of using sulfates and protein. I know I still have the CJ conditioner lying around which is a moisture bomb. Perhaps I should try that but my hair hates oils so I'm not sure. Speaking of which, I was scared for the oils in GPB but no trouble there so far.

I even used a minor amount of CJ CCCL to SOTC. I'm still thinking about getting rid of that product but my hair could use it to add some shine. Below is a picture. Hair seems to be dry (but probably isn't). I just applied CJ CCCL before taking the picture. My hair will probably be droopy because that's what CCCL does, but who knows?

And seeing that so many curlies on this thread have similar properties, how do you feel about co-washing with GPB? And what styler do you recommend? I'm thinking about getting KCCC, but I've also read about Ecostyler, which is available in the Netherlands and really cheap. I can get KCCC here as well but it's Ä25,- vs. $16,- in the US (Ä12,-). Still, most people, especially those with more wavy hair like mine, rave about KCCC rather than Ecostyler.
