Okay, what did I do wrong?

I just tried IAgirls gelatin protein treatment. I even did the cold water trick to make sure it was dissolved completely. I left it on for 5 minutes with a shower cap, rinsed very well, and then immediately did a deep conditioning treatment. After rinsing the DC, I had little white balls in my hair. I had to use a cleansing pudding to get them out. Did I do something wrong?

What exactly did you put in the IAGirl's pt you used? Just the basic gelatin, water, acv (or citric acid) and 3 drops oil, or did you add additional ingredients?

What was in your dt? Was it a homemade concoction or some sort of store bought product?

I have a couple thoughts on what might have gone wrong...

1. You may not have rinsed well enough.

2. Something in your dt might have reacted poorly with any trace amounts of pt left on your hair.

Summer Products /Routine:
Clarifying: ACV rinses, Suave Professional Men Deep Clean Peppermint
Low Poo: Renpure Luxurious Argan Oil
Co-washes: VO5 Kiwi Lime Squeeze or Strawberries & Cream
RO: VO5 KLS or S&C, Cure Care
LI (if needed): VO5 S&C, VO5 SC, Cure Care
Stylers: FSG, AIF,
Tresemme Flawless Curls Bouncy Curls gel
PT: IAGirl's (link) as needed
I notice that you have low porosity hair. I have trouble with IAgirl's PT, too. It's too concentrated for my hair. I can use gelatin in my okra or FSG because I use it as one package of gelatin to 4 cups of water.

Just curious if you've tried IAGirl's protein treatment with the half strength formula, left on for 2-3 minutes. That's what works best for me when I need a protein boost beyond what I'd get from adding a few drops of Colorful Neutral Protein Filler to my conditioner. Of course, I can understand if you don't want to try it again, based on your previous experience. Just thought it might be worth a shot for you.

Yes, I think I will have to try again with less gelatin or water it down more. In answer to the first question, I added conditioner to it, as well as honey. I think the conditioner may have been what balled up in my hair. Not sure, but I'm not going to give up yet.

The good news is that today my hair feels much softer and stronger than it did. So, despite the setback, I still think it did what it was supposed to.
