Products with protein that didn't work for you..
How about a list of products that you have used that your hair didn't like?
1. LA Looks Sports Gel
2. Ecostyler
are 2 I can think of off the top of my head right now.. I used these for a while until I found out I was protein sensitive and my hair got like frizzy straw!

Though I'm really not protein sensitive, I can't use the GDLI (EWWW) or any Shea M.

Definitely Ecostyler. I tried it the other day and as my hair dried during the day, it got so big I thought one of us was going to have to leave my office.
Lesson learned!

Magick Botanicals conditioner for thinning hair (after 2 uses) and Trader Joe Nourish condish after a while (soy protein). I'm not really protein sensitive but since I do use conditioners that have a good moisture/protein balance, any reconstructor is going to throw my head out of whack -

Giovanni Direct Leave In (my hair felt like straw from this)
Nexxus Emergencee Reconstructor (so much of my hair was all tangled and came out while I was rinsing it out plus it made my hair all frizzy)

ArcAngell has protein?!? I thought my hair disliked it! I know it's lurking in some of my products (and I know it's bad to cut it out all together) but it'd be good for me to learn what my hair DOES like. *reads ingredients*
Aqueous extracts of: Achilea millefolium, chamomilla recutita (matricaria), cymbopogon, schoenanthus, humulus lupulus (hops), melissa offcinalis (balm mint), rosmarinus offcinalis (rosemary), citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) peel, pvp/va copolymer, glycerin, PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, acrylates/c10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, phenoxyethanol, methyldibromo glutaronitrile, sodium hydroxide, frangrance, red 40, yellow 5.
o.o I think I may need some help... haha Can anyone weigh in and look at my other product ingredients for protein?? It'd help so much.

Hi! I don't know about the rest of the products.. but as far as Deva I found out the other day has "humulus lupulus (hops)" and is considered a protein. That's why curlmart does not list it with "low protein". I don't know... I'm not ready to give up my One C... soooooooooo... I don't know LOL.
I did give up the Deva gels tho.. been making my own FSG for now!

My hair loves most of the deva products! I have never had a problem with the Angell, never tried ArcAngell. In fact Angell is my HG!
I switch off on condish from One C to L'Oreal Vive Pro Hydra Gloss Moisturizing Conditioner (yellow bottle). I shampoo with Devacurl No Poo.
My curl's kryptonite is wheat, soy and silk proteins.

I wanted to love Abba Pure Style Gel and Batia/Aleeza Gel but the protein did me in.
I don't have as much trouble w/ gels that have only silk protein.

I'm with flairwood
My hair seems to like the Silk Protein too, that's why I can use the Suave Coconut condish. But Wheat protein, as we say in Queens, ***etaboutit!

Giovanni and Deva products instantly turned my hair to straw. I can use Ecostyler, Trader Joe's, and Suave Coconut sparingly - no more than once a month - and I'm okay. Tressemme Naturals I can use a little more often, but not everyday.

Are you referring to the Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque??? If so, I've been using it as a twist out creme and wondered why my curls have been so limp lately and the ends not so great. Is it the avocado oil in it that makes it a protein?
I give up..lol
