Protein Problems? Burt's Bees

I am currently using Burt's Bees Super Shiny Grapefruit and Sugar Beet Shampoo and More Moisture Raspberry and Brazil Nut Conditioner. I turned to burts to find sulfate/paraben free product. I have 2b hair, not overly pourous, short and average thickness. It is color treated, but not overly so.

The shampoo is weird to me. When I put it in my hair it just totally seizes up. There is no slickness at all, I can't explain it, it's like my hair goes from soft to tough mass as soon as the Shampoo hits it. The same for the conditioner, it doesn't move around at all and my scalp is becoming irritated. Also I shed BADLY when I use these too.

Is this a protein sensitivity? I admit I am at a loss to figure out just what exactly my hair doesn't like about this product or am I off base..is this how sulfate and paraben free products feel in your hair?

I have the same reaction to Burt's Bees. I think this happens because it's liquid soap. Soap bars do the same thing to my hair. My hair is porous. And the water where I live is hard. So, I think it's more a residue or it's lifting the cuticle and ruffling all the hairs????

I did have the same reaction to a LUSH bar soap sample I tried.

I don't know what to look for to counteract this hair lock issue....humectant and emollient?
