Default My hair was super soft after PT...???

So I used the Sally Generic version of Joico K-Pak for a protein treatment. After what I had read about protein treatments I expected my hair to be straw like and stringy and have the need to follow up with a deep conditioner. But after the PT, which I left on for an hour, my hair was super soft and silky. This is the first time I have ever done a protein treatment. I was surprised by my results. So I am wondering, did it not work since my hair wasn't straw like and stringy...did it work since my hair was soft? Does this mean my hair loves protein?

I'm just not sure how to interpret my results to help me in my quest for frizz free well defined soft curls

Thanks everyone!

That's how my hair reacted to a PT when it had been severely overconditioned. I used Nexxus Emergencee, and my hair was like pure silk.

Mine did the same thing after a protein treatment I made with eggs, honey, olive oil, and avocado as a Prewash Treatment.
Super soft hair, not dry or frizzy. My curls were so soft they didn't hold the shape/definition well even after I put in product and diffused dry. The next time I washed it, they held their shape better.

Me, too!! I used Nexxus Emergencee and my hair was super soft and instead of the bouncy, springy waves/curls that everyone else touted, I had nearly straight hair!

I have the remainder of the Emergencee (and a few other "did not work for me" products) ready to give or swap away!!

Oh I should have said it didn't really affect my curls, they were still nice, my hair didn't lose any curl...it just became really really soft!

I use the GVP joico k-pak and it always makes my hair feel very soft. I don't think that means anything in terms of whether or not it worked or if its a good or bad thing, but I always wondered the same thing. I think it depends on the type of protein it is, and I think you may find that if you tried something different for a PT like aphogee it would make your hair feel different. Like I said I'm no expert so I don't know if its good or bad but I use the k-pak once per week.

The Joico and the GVP version both give me soft, slick hair. Other PTs don't. I just say that my hair tolerates and likes keratin. It gets the straw feeling with many other protein types, but I do well with keratin.

It's not unusual to tolerate one sort of protein while being intolerant to others.

A couple years ago, I put a bunch of straight up gelatin in my hair and left it in for a while (not as a PT or anything), and when i finally got around to rinsing it out, my hair was so silky! I'm actually hoping to do that again when I can get boiling water to make it....
