For those who have had a protein overload...
How long does it take for the ugly halo of frizz to go away? I realized I had overdone it on Monday and did a sulphate wash and since then have only used:
GVP
KCKT
KCCC
JCNS to SOTC
And cowashed yesterday with Suave Waterfall Mist..also did a DT with GVP.
Are those all ok? My hair is feeling a ton better but the frizz is still pretty bad. Very spider-webby looking. Does it get worse before it gets better? I know some have said it took a month but I didn't know if that was specifically the frizz. That's the worst thing at this moment. I've never had frizz before the PT overload. At least I HOPE that's what it was. Makes sense because I was coarse to begin with and using GDLI, tons of LALSG.

I would say it takes a good few washings...but this winter has been awful for me in general with dryness, lack of moisture in the air...so I'm getting some surface frizz no matter what. The low dew points are a killer for me. So even without protein I'm still having surface frizz.
Hope is a dewy spring and then my hair might behave!
Take care,

I almost fell for that Eco Styler so many times and believe me I've gotten many other things that people raved about and the protein also killed me. Especially Wheat Protein...the worst for me!
This is how I think of protein overload. It's like if you eat too much of something. You can't get rid of it. Your body just has to process it. Just go on a no protein diet for your hair with condish, and flax seed gel...it has no protein
Good luck.

The trick for me was to use a moisturizing DC as an all day treatment for a few days. Basically i'd put it in the morning and let it sit until the next morning where i'd rinse and put another moisturizing DC. Did that for 3-4 days and then let my hair rest for a week.
After the first moisturizing DC it already felt great.
I used CJ Curl Rehab, Crown Price Tucuma hair mask and the Bee Mine DC. Now the Bee Mine and Curl Rehab usually did nothing to my hair, until i suffered protein overload and now my hair loves it (go figure!).
My hair used to LOVE protein but since then it seems like it' sdone a 180 and completely rejects it now... Strange...
Anyway, hope my technique works for you

It can take some time to recover.
For my hair, the GVP wouldn't be enough at all. I'd need something like Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose or White Camellia or Curl Junkie Curl Rehab.
In my very early days, I used AOHR straight for about nine months before I could tolerate any protein.

I caught it pretty early, so it didn't take too long to recover. I'd say after two overnight DTs, I was as good as new.

Ditto. Two DCs, finding an excellent protein free leave-in and rinse out conditioner, and I was good.

did you find them|?
Have you found a leave in and rinse out and co-wash that don't have protein. I'm in the same boat as all of you. This has been crazy! I didn't know!
