Is Protein bad for you if you have a mixture of medium/coarse hair texture?

I have a mixture of medium and coarse hair texture. Is protein bad for it? I'm scared to try it but my hair has been so dry lately I just dont know what deep treatments to put in it.
Me: medium/coarse, porosity??, high density 3b curls
Daughter: medium/coarse, porosity??, high density 3c curls (with annoying 2c curls in the nape area and sides )

I know all hair needs doses of protein, coarse hair sometimes doesn't play well. It's sort of touch and go with trying to figure out what your hair likes and doesn't like.

As for a DC, you can purchase one or make it at home.

You can use EVOO, some Tresemme Naturals, and some honey. Works well for me.

According to my curl profile my medium/coarse texture hair doesn't need much protein. I figured that out long before that!

I don't remember if saying how often. I know that I don't use any conditioners that are protein, or keratin labeled. I also don't do homemade protein recipes.

My conditioners don't have protein in them and my hair doesn't seem to need it.

What's strange is that my hair does ok the LALSG which has protein in it, but the Quidad line with the wheat protein causes my hair to frizz and look like a cotton ball!
