CG styling products without protein?
I'm on the first day of trying out a CG regimen, and wondered if anyone had suggestions for styling products that don't have any protein. I'm trying to find something I can use every day, as I figure out what different styling/care techniques work best for my hair. If possible, I'm also looking for something that is (relatively) non-toxic - no parabens or pthalates, for a start.
(It seems like I can only get 2 out of 3 for any product: if it's CG-friendly and has no protein, then it's probably got a nasty chemical in it. If it's CG and non-toxic, then it has protein... etc.)
I think my hair is 2c with normal porosity. (It has very loose, VERY large waves, but they are more spiral-shaped than S-shaped.) I know it's thick and coarse, and doesn't need any extra protein - it makes it rough/dry/strawlike. I have had good results with both mousse and gel in the past, but I'm willing to try anything, including combining/layering products. (I used CFT Goddess Curls gel today, and it's okay, but I think I might need something with stronger hold, or more ability to enhance my wave pattern.)
I know it's a tall order, but I'm hoping there are other people out there who are also trying to avoid sulfates, cones, protein, AND potentially dangerous ingredients.
Thanks for reading!

Well, it is a tall order, but do-able. You can search curlmart products and select the protein free search option and that will give you 2 out of 3 for the most part. As far as all natural produts, there's the Kinky Curly line, which meets all of your requirements and I think a few of the mop-c products are protein free and all natural (?). Also, check out Giovanni and Aubrey Organics products as I think both have a few protein free options.
Hope that helps.

FYI, I picked up Garnier Fructis Pure Clean gel, as it's cone/protein/paraben/dye free, and I like it a lot so far. Pretty good hold, and my hair has barely any frizz (although that could be because I have been CG for four or five days now).

Good to hear! Does it have any curl/wave enhancement or just hold?

I do find that it enhances my waves, but that might be a function of its strong hold, since my wave pattern is pretty weak to begin with.
It doesn't leave my hair super soft, but does make it look nice!

I recommend Jessicurl products
Greetings!
I too am protein sensitive, and silicones make my hair feel slimy. It's an ongoing struggle to find products that work with my hair.
For you, I'd recommend Jessicurl products. They're the best I've found so far. If you go to her website, she explains each ingredient and how it is derived. All her products are protein and silicone free, not animal tested and vegan.
Here's a link to her site where she explains each ingredient:

Good luck!

Thanks Tryst - I will check those out!
I also tried KCCC. While it doesn't have enough hold for my hair, it does give it nice shine/definition/moisture!
