how often to do a protein treatment?

I have 2 cholesterol protein treatments, one is mega cholesterol treatment from silk elelments and the other one I have is shea butter and mango cholesterol treatmet, the lady @ sallys told me to do the treatment once a month....(is she right??)but also my shampoo I bought has protein in it because its made with whipped egg....is this too much protein for my hair?? Should I cut out the cholesterol treatments?? Iv also heard that too much protein is bad for your hair...(is that true also???)

As I am protein sensitive I do not do protein treatments. A "hit" of protein for me might be as simple as using suave coconut conditioner as a rinse out once every few weeks.
As with everything else in your hair care regimen it is different for everyone.

I've been on a protein free diet (hairwise) for 8 mos., and while I suspected some breakage, my recent trip to my stylist for cut and color has made it very clear that I need some protein. I'm losing hair and not just full strands, but small little pieces are breaking off.

I did my first ever PT this week w/ the Sally's K-pak, and I can already see improvement in my curl pattern. I think I might try again next week and then once every 2 weeks until I feel that my hair is stronger. Of course, if I overdose on the protein, my hair will certainly let me know!
