Deep conditioning treatments will definitely help, with both your moisture/protein balance and elasticity. I've been doing them weekly since about January, and I've found that they really help. As to coconut oil, I've just started using it in the last week or so and really like it, but I'm still experimenting. I've not tried it by itself as a DT, but I have used it as an additive to my DT, and I really like it. I've also used it as a pre-wash treatment.
