Default Protein causing volume?

I tried posting this somewhere else, but didn't get any comments, so I thought i'd post here instead.
My hair has too much volume, it always has. My hair is extremely thick and I always sweat alot on the rare days I wear it down. I've heard that thick hair doesn't need protein, and the conditioner I use has some. If you have any suggestions in how to tone down the access volume I would greatly appreciate it.

Default Dear Curly

Although I'm stating the obvious here because I can not tell if you are protein sensitive or not, by the information you provided...

I will suggest, cutting out protein for a few weeks and see if things get better for your hair.
