Default What do you add to fsg?

Those of you who are protein sensitive and make your own flaxseed gel, what do you add to it? Plain flaxseed gel didn't give me enough hold, but I'm afraid to add honey or agave nectar since my dews are in the 20-30 range. Would love to hear what everyone adds to their fsg!

I love FSG and mix it with a little hard hold gel. 3 parts FSG to 1 part hold gel. I put the mixture in 3oz travel containers and store in the fridge until ready to use. The only thing I add to FSG when making it is a small amount of GSE.

For better hold I make my FSG, strain, then put it back on the burner and cook it down to burn off extra water and make it thicker. I love it that way.

In the winter (low dew) I add magesium oil (for extra curl) and clove oil (for scent and preservative properties) the only thing I add in high dews is the agave.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info! I think I may try both of your methods! Frizzinfla, what hard hold gel do you usually use?

GoinGrey, how does the magnesium oil compare to using magnesium sulfate? The mag sulfate was too drying for me....but I may have used too much. I just stopped adding it in when I noticed the dryness.

Dear Bonita,
The Mag Sulfate dried me out terribly. That is why i go the Mgnesium oil. I got it from Kathy Mack. She is terrific. I will never use Mag sulfate ever. Only Magnesium Oil is good for me.

I might have to try some magnesium oil! I have a pretty strong curl pattern but maybe it'd help curl it a bit more. I made a new batch of fsg today and strained/reboiled. I also mixed in AIF in a 1:3 ratio like frizzinfla does. My hair turned out pretty well! It's a little frizzy but maybe i need to try some different gels/ratios.

Any of the following work well for me: Aquage Molding Mega Gel; Aussie instant Freeze; or BRHG. I have to be careful with the BRHG, as it gives me the permanent wet look if I use too much. Good luck!!
