Suave naturals everlasting sunshine ?

jsuzkelley Your hair is gorgeous!
My friend who is a 4a/3c natural loves this conditioner. I trust her opinions and I want to give it a try. We both were big fans of Herbal Essenses Hello Hydration (I still am) but she says she likes this conditioner better.

So I've been playing w/ new products lately & I've tipped the balance into a protein overload. It's just so easy to do when you're sensitive, but I color my hair so I have to have some protein.

Anyway, picked this up to try as a co-wash (having trouble finding the aloe & waterlily these days) and my hair absolutely hates it!

I spritzed & condished w/ CJ Argon & Olive oil & used a tea tree oil spray on my scalp & my hair was feeling nice & soft & on its way to being detangled. Then I co-washed w/ the suave & instant dry straw hair. The bottle went straight in the trash after my shower. Good thing it's only $1.79!

So it may be protein free, but my sensitive head had a bad reaction.
3b/3c at nape/a little 3a on the sides, med-course, high porosity, colored.
Protein sensitive, hard water.

spritz and condish
low-poo: shea moisture, Y to Cucs (clarifying)
RO: CJ A&OO, CJSL,GVPCB
LI: CJ A&OO, CJCR
DT:CJCR, GVPCB+evoo&honey
stylers: FSG, SM Curl & Style Milk, CJCCCL, CJCIAB & Biolage gelee
refresher:CJSL, CJCCCL, Lustrasilk OO
PT: Sally's K-Pak, AO GPB

Jsuzkelley,
I had the exact same problem as you a few months back. My hair looked ok, with a little frizz, but felt dry and brittle. I found out it was the SM Curl & Style Milk. I don't know if it was the amount of protein (I'm sensitive but didn’t know it at the time) as it has more protein then the SM CES. I can handle the SM CES sometimes. But in the end I gave away the SM Curl & Style Milk and my hair softened up after a few serious deep conditioning treatments.

Since I've been using the curl & style milk, I try to only use it it when no other styling products in my routine have protein, and it seems to have enough moisture to balance it out. I did notice that when I used it and Giovanni DLI, my hair had that gross feeling again, so I am definitely sensitive to protein overload (my hair also doesn't like the SM restorative condish with the milk - I'm guessing too much protein again). I seem to do okay with silk protein in small amounts, but sometimes it's so hard to tell which ingredients my hair is reacting to. I tried the SM CES, but didn't like it - my hair felt so gross/producty (i get the same results with KCCC). Last night I did a little experiment using SN everlasting sunshine as my co-wash, RO and LI, an ACV rinse and some curl keeper and AIF gel (did the ACV rinse before the LI). Curls looked good at first, but definitely not enough moisture. Since it was a completely protein free experiment, I didn't get any of that yucky crunchy feeling, but my hair feels dry. When I first tried the SN I really like it, but now I'm thinking it's the FSG that I really like. Anyone have a good suggestion for a very moisturizing condish/LI that's protein and glycerin free?

2c/3a, botticelli/wavy/'swavy (huh?)
fine, dense, normal porosity/elasticity, dry climate

My favorite brands are Kinky Curly, As I am, Curly Kinks, Curl Junkie, and Darcy's Botanicals. Also love sealing with oils (loving argan oil right now) and styling with jelly products (KCCC is my current favorite). Mostly trying to keep it simple!

The only thing I can think of is Curl Junkies Curl Rehab. It's pricey but it's good stuff! I know its protein free but glycerin free, I don't know.

I got tremendous dryness from this conditioner so I looked up one of the ingredients Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Oil on the Tightly Curly website and it says "containing proteins, amino acids, and anti-oxidants".

Anyone else getting dryness from this conditioner?

Loved it at first, but soon realized it was causing my hair to dry out. I read up on the products and saw that one is full of amino acids. I had such high hopes for this one, but no such luck.

It smells good I got mine from dollar general for a dollar. It doesn't have much slip, but it did moisturize my hair. I prefer tresemme naturals over it, but so that I wouldn't waste the product I found a new use for it which is mixing it with my body wash. I loveeeeeeeee the way it leaves my skin feeling then I follow up with coconut oil as a full body moisturizer.

I have been thinking that my hair hates aloe, but in all the threads on here I've read I'd never seen anybody have anything but positive things to say about it, so I thought maybe I was crazy! I have no suggestions or tips to offer, but I just wanted to say it's nice to hear I'm not alone
I use Suave ES to as a co-wash and also trying it out as a leave-in. So far, it smells and and is really light and thin but not watery. I really like that it has no silicones, sulfates, mineral oil, and aloe (which I heard has protein). I think the moisture is only okay, though.
This product is my favorite co-wash conditioner. I use it after my henna treatment and also add it to my bentonite clay mask. I am protein sensitive and experience no dryness at all from it like I did the VO5 Moisture Milk.
When you guys say you're getting dryness - you mean from the ES? What about from the other ones that are protein free? Cherry blossom/pomegranit - there are a few others?
3b/fine/normal porosity/normal elasticity

LOVES behentrimonium methosulfate
(don't ask me to pronounce that!)

Want to grow it long again!
And simply want to figure out this hair of mine!
I used the conditioner two days ago for co wash my hair felt nice and soft after so i like it and it has a nice smell.
