UPDATED: Protein-free Conditioners List

I thought I'd do an updated list of protein free conditioners since the old one has lots of conditioners with protein in them.

Protein-free Conditioner

Aubrey Organic Honeysuckle & Rose Conditioner
Aussie Moist Conditioner
Curl Junkie Smoothing Conditioner
Curl Junkie Curl Rehab
Curl Junkie Argan and Olive Oil
Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Conditioner
Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Fortifying Deep Conditioner
Giovanni - 50/50 Balanced Conditioner
GVP conditioning balm (Sally's)
Matrix Biolage Hydratherapie Conditioning Balm
Renpure organics Argan oil Luxurious conditioner
Suave Almond & Shea Butter
Suave Naturals Conditioner (all except the coconut one!)
Tigi Bed Head Moisture Maniac Conditioner
Tresemme Naturals Moisturizing Conditioner
V05 Kiwi Lime Conditioner
VO5 Blackberry Sage Tea Therapy Revitalizing Conditioner
Yes to Cucumber/Carrots

If you know of any more protein free conditioners, please let me know and I'll add them to the list!

Thanks this was helpful!

Here is another list of protein-free conditioners

lulu008 09-26-2012 11:14 AM

Aubrey HSR has Wheat Germ Oil which some protein sensitive heads might not like.

lulu008 09-26-2012 11:16 AM

Also wanted to add Renpure Organics Argan Oil Luxurious Conditioner.

I have not tried it yet but I see no proteins or anything protein acting in the ingredients.

Dessert Essence Coconut
Desset Essence Tea Tree
Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat
Spiral Solutions Deeply Decadent
Aubrey Organic White Camellia
Acure Organics Argan
Acure Organics Lemongrass
Juice Organics Brightening
Juice Organics Pomsmooth
Sonoma Soap Company (all conditioners)
Everyday Shea Moisturizing Conditioner
Everyday Coconut Super Hydrating Conditioner
Whole Foods 365 Conditioners (great for cowash)

Thanks for this list...I really appreciate it as I am currently on the hunt here. A long time fan of Aubrey Organics, I have just tried out the protein-free white camellia-imbued one and am hating it. My hair feels like a grease-slick on top of having suffered the effects of a protein overload.

"WavesnWheels": overall, your list steers more toward the natural side which is where I am and have been ever since I can remember. So thank you--a lot. You reminded me of companies I had forgotten about, especially having lived in a foreign country for years now. But I have connections; I can order just about anything from back home in the States.

I've been using Tresemme Naturals Radiant Volume (I think it has protein). I've switched to using only Suave Naturals (no coconut!) exclusively as my cowash, rinse out, and leave in and my hair is LOVING IT!

Also silicone, paraben, and sulfate-free?

Are any of the conditioners on this list free of silicone, parabens, and sulfates, as well as protein?

My sweet curly girlfriend is looking for a conditioner that is free of all those things and I'd love to find one for her. Her hair is 2C/3A and very low porosity.

One possibility I've found is Karen's Body Beautiful Sweet Ambrosia Leave-In Conditioner. It has wheat germ oil but from what I've read hear that probably doesn't have much protein. But she's looking for a non-leave-in conditioner.

The original post is way out of date, I'd suggest doing your own research. There is a more up to date but shorter list over in the Sciencey Hairblog.

I love the Suave Naturals conditioners! I also like VO5, but not the Extra Body, because the hydrolyzed collagen gives it a weird texture and it does not moisturize my hair nearly enough! Too bad, because it smells good.

The Herbal Essence Naked Moisture Conditioner is pretty good.

gardencurls 08-02-2014 01:47 PM

The As I Am and Camille Rose lines are protein free. I'm pretty sure most of Curl Junkie's products are as well. For conditioners there's EdenBodyWork Jojoba Monoi, Kinky Curly Knot Today (my Grail), Oyin Handmade, Taliah Waajid Combout, Creme of Nature Lemongrass & Rosemary

Does V05 Pomegranate and Grapeseed Extract have protein? I really thought it didn't actually... What ingredient am I overlooking?

baxam 08-06-2014 04:24 PM

- VO5 kiwi lime conditioner ---> has collagen

+ Jessicurl deep treatment conditioner is protien free

followmesky 09-21-2014 10:59 PM

I think we can add Yes to Carrots Blueberries. I didn't see protein ingredients

Nope. Both the shampoo and the conditioner have Lupine Amino Acids, which is protein.

Progarnix

Progarnix - from organix

the nourishing and repair products are free of protein. Just used the nourish one this week. Not bad, but will see how it works on my second use.

Updated: Protein-free conditioners list

G'Day,
Wow, what a fantastic list. Would would't happen to have a "PROTEIN FREE DEEP CONDITIONER LIST" handy? You have put a great amount of work into this -well done & God Bless.
