Default Keratin amino acids last ingredient in gel?

How damaging are keratin amino acids to coarse hair if they are the last ingredient listed in a gel? I just picked up La Bella Styling Gel (label reads: level 9 freeze + hold with super shine) and the ingredients are:

water, sorbitol, PVP, carbomer, triethanolamine, methylparaben, tetrasodium EDTA, polysorbate-20, benzophenone-4, DMDM hydantoin, potassium sorbate, sodium chloride, fragrance, propylene glycol, isoteareth-20, keratin amino acids

Any coarse haired curlies every try this gel?

I know my hair doesn't like wheat proteins (tried Ouidad products and my hair reacted very badly to those proteins) but I thought since I never rinse out my conditioner, a gel with keratin amino acids this far down on the list may not be so bad? Would the conditioner protect my hair?

Thanks!

Teresina I am protein sensitive too. My hair, like your hates Wheat Protein. I like Keratin Protein so this gel looks like something I want to try to replace my beloved LA Looks Curl (light blue) that is discontinued.

So I will say to you try it and if you get good results, do not use it again the next day and the next. The trick is finding out HOW OFTEN you can add the bit of protein to your hair!

Good Luck and keep me posted!

Thanks GoinGrey. You made a good point that I hadn't even thought of. It makes sense that if you don't use proteins every day, then your hair might be able to handle some now and then. Unfortunately, I don't wet my hair every day; I usually wear second and third day hair so I wonder how my hair is going to react with the gel sitting in it for that many days. I'm still going to try it and see and I'll use a different, protein free gel for my touchups on days 2 and 3.

Thanks for the advice. I'll post my results once I try it.

I tried this gel this morning and I'm not lovin' it. It definitely does not have enough hold for this mop of hair plus my hair looks undefined and frizzy. I'm assuming that's because of the keratin amino acids, although they are last on the ingredient list. Ugh...the search continues...

It probably is the protein. I actually went to two stores to look for that gel today. I did not find it. I did RE purchase HE Set Me Up... it's protein free and I plan to use it now that the weather is warming up.
