Styler recommendations?

I need a heavy, CG friendly gel/styler that is also protein free and that I can get on the ground. I've been making flaxseed gel, but I'd rather buy something. Any suggestions?

Have you tried the Bioterra Gel from Sally's, a lot of protein free love it, the perfume smell is a bit much for me, but it may be worth a try.
After trying so many things, because I was tired of making the FSG also, I went back to the stove as I've found nothing that works as well.

Let me know how you make out.

Now that I'm reading about it... the gel is not heavy. It seems it's watery. Our quest continues.

I have the Biotera gel and it is kinda watery. I used it yesterday to see what it would do, and it was ok, but didn't help with shrinkage as much as I'd like.

MrsBach, I have one more recommendation. It is thick and protein free. Salon Care Extra Firm (blue). There is a Yellow one also. I bought a big tub from Sally's 2 lbs for 3.99. I used it once so the jury is still out on it for me.

I will use it tomorrow. In the jar it reminds me of Dippidy Doo, remember that gel? Or are you too young. It's so thick like that and blue.

Are you looking for more of a curl enhancer or gel? A good protein and glycerin free gel is Aussie Instant Freeze.

A couple good curl enhancers are KCCC and Curls Goddess Curls gel. Note, the Curls gel has absolutely no hold!

I don't remember Dippidy Doo, but then again I wasn't one who used gels when I was young because I had a relaxer. I'm not as young as I look! Lol! Are you going to use something under the Salon Care?

I used the Salon Care Extra Firm (blue) for the second time. Today it provided practically no hold for me. I used it with no leave in under. The first time I used it a few weeks ago, I was having a severe frizzing problem and found out it was due to too much leave in - in summer. This gel has no humectant in it, which I enjoy in the summer. So perhaps some KY (generic) under it would have worked better for me? The good thing I can say is it has no alcohol in to because the H.E. Set Me Up was drying me out after continued use, which I can only attribute to the alcohol.

Mrs. Bach, I can't rave about this gel for my hair. If you live on Long Island I'll let you have a big old dollip of mine... I don't see it getting too much use here.

1. I get some decent curl enhancement from it! Even though it says strong hold I have to mix a bit of BRHG w/ it since it poofs out on me otherwise. I have a really weak wave pattern so you might be able to use it as a gel.

I live in IA so I had to order online! I love the Curly Magic. That product is seriously like magic for me. I find it very forgiving with the amounts you use and it has a little hold on its own. You could also order a sample from kathymack to try first though.

Thanks for that Uncle Funky's info. What up with the expensive shipping. To ship the Curl Magic to me they want 10 bucks shipping.

Ah...that's why I try to do everything on ground. I'll just stick with KCCC from Target.
I will let you know how I like the Pure Clean Gel.

I agree, the shipping is outrageous! But I've had my 18oz bottle for about two years and still have a few oz left!

I have a love/hate relationship with KCCC. Sometimes I get this weird, almost flash drying feeling. And some days I get great waves and other days it's very blah. It is not a very consistent product for me.

It's a curl enhancer and has a bit of hold as well. One of my favs!
