Default could my product use be causing protein overload?

i have recently changed in the past week, but i was for 6 months straight (immedietly after chopping off 6 inches)using a shampoo with hydrolyzed wheat protein and hydrolyzed kertin as the 18th out of 28, and a conditioner with hydrolyzed silk protein 7th out of 21 on the ingredient list.

i was co washing for a bit but gave up because of hard water, so i went back to washing and then conditioning ,mostly concentrating on ends with the conditioner (the hydrolyzed silk conditioner). I wash 1-2 times a week i try to stay at 1 per week.i was using claryfying shampoo (wheat protein/keratin) for my one a week but my only letting the soap run down my ends.

also: these problems are pretty much non existant on the very bottom layers of my hair, the dryness seems to be on the canopy and one layer under that , the top being the worst. If you look at the individual strands on my top later the strand gets thicker the further you go down. this started about a month after i cut and started using the products.

Have you checked your products for glycerin? Especially in colder months, glycerin can cause many of the symptoms that people associate with protein sensitivity.

Glycerin can be a factor for low dew points, but I'd worry more about the protein. It might be ok ocasionally but since it's in both yr products yr getting a double dose (especially if yr hair isn't loving it).
I (thought) I had course/dry hair till I cut all protein containing products out. Now its soft and bordering on fine. Some hair can't take protein (hard water prolly has something to do w/this).
As for shampoo, because of the SLS stay away from "clarifying"-its just too strippy. A reg shampoo is fine and start using lots more condish & leave to soak on yr hair for a good 10-15 mins (like a mini DT).

Thank you so much for replying

Well it might make sense, i have not been working and have been busy inside most of the winter and i have the heat blasted (electric heat) 24/7, i checked my routine products and i dident see any glycerin, but there may be other names for it i will have to look them up. I am thinking of switching to ganier fructis shampoo and conditioner (protein free) and lots of DC and see if that solves it in the next month.

If you concentrate on moisture without protein for awhile you might be able to introduce protein in small amounts after your moisture balance is restored.
