I was pretty sure I needed to up my protein in the past, and it worked well for me to include it periodically. Now I don't know what the heck is happening.

I'm not sure anymore if my hair likes protein or what's going on. At first, when I'd do the homemade gelatin protein treatment, my curls would tighten up and I liked the results, even if my hair was a little bit dry feeling. But now, when I protein treat my hair (not very often) my hair feels super soft and doesn't stay controlled. It's so weird, because my hair is still high porosity esp mid- end of the shaft because of highlighting etc. ugh I don't understand what it means.
