Yea ASU! I'm an ASU Nursing grad. way back in 1988! So of course I love your avi. name! I actually work in an outpatient surgical center near the Tempe WF and went there after work today...But I love the newer one on my way home in Chandler at Ray and the 101, my favorite store.
I see you have used Jessicurl products? How do you like them? I'm a fine to med. porous 2b-3a or cherub curl, and I just recently made the flaxseed gel and saw that the Rocking Ringlets has almost the exact same ingredients and would keep me out of the kitchen!

Hey fellow Sun Devil - I'm an old grad too, first time Communication degree in '84, last time graduate degree in Mass Communications from Walter Cronkite school in '90, before it moved downtown! I live in NE Phoenix so my WFs are at Tatum and Shea & Scottsdale and the 101. Haven't seen the new NG at Tatum store yet, but I'll keep watching. Actually, some Walmarts, Targets, and Fry's carry NG, my Fry's had one bottle of new formula. I've been using NG for a long time and I like it. Vitacost.com has the best prices but don't know when they will get the new stuff.
I used to like Jessicurl, but the magnesium sulfate dries out my hair. Be careful with that stuff here, especially when there's little humidity, it can dry out your hair something special. Btw, I am a huge Sun Devil fan. Go Devils!

ASUgirl-Nice to chat with you! I started at ASU in 82' and my family and I are still big fans, my Mom and brother I would call fanatics! They have season tickets to all the football games and they beat out any other important event!
I only put 1 tsp. of the Mag. sulf. in my homemade FSG yesterday because I was a little nervous about that too. I read someone else say that the JC stuff has a lot of Mag. Sulf. in it so it dried out their hair too much. Wonder if it's worth the try to get the travel size samples. What type of hair do you have? Are you porous?
I actually got my NG at Target with the new formula.

I've tried the old version twice this week. It's the most watery condish I've ever tried and I thought VO5 was watery...
The softness of my wet hair after using it feels different than other conditioners I've used. I'm not convinced it's a good different. As the day went on, I've noticed my hair didn't feel as moisturized as I'm accustomed to. I used different LI's and gels on both days so it be something with the combination. Tomorrow I'm switching back to Tresseme to see if there's a change.
Later in the week I'll revisit NG and pair it with other products to see what happens. The fragrance is like sunshine in a bottle.

Curlsanew-You may want to try the new conditioner if you like the natural ingredients in NG...the new version is much thicker and my hair which always has halo frizz has been much less frizzy with all my regular stylers and thats the only thing I changed. I use the sunflower pomgranate and I leave a large pea size in as a leave in then use my stylers. It doesn't have as much slip in the shower which I use to judge all conditioners buy, but I'm able to run a wide tooth comb through mine without any problem and the moisture must be lasting due to decreased frizz. I know what you mean about how it feels in your hair when it's wet because mine doesn't feel slippery or slimy at all and I always wonder if I put enough in, HTH!

O.K. Guys, maybe you all can help me out....after using this shampoo and cond. for the past week, I noticed yesterday and today that my curls look stringy and almost greasy! Is it the glycerin that is the #2 ingredient or too many oils, or the protein that might be doing this. I've use it with my regular stylers and noticed this as of yesterday. last night I didn't leave any in my hair as a leave in but that didn't seem to change anything, so this afternoon I low pooed an used my other conditioner and it seemed to help some on popping my curls back up a little but still a little stringy. What could be causing this? Maybe it's more moisturizing that I thought and it's actually too much for my hair? I initially noticed how much it helped with my frizz, but then I guess it was too much.
I'll continue with my old shampoo and cond. and see if it helps, do you all think I need to do a sulfate cleanse? Thanks for your help everyone!

Update: I think my lackluster results with the old formula could be a sign that I need a protein treatment.

I think I am porous, and my hair is alot like yours. I rate mine 2a/3a, thin, fine, and highlighted. My hair dries out easily. I have had to train myself to use conditioner. I used to shy from conditioner because my hair is so fine and thin it would weigh it down. Now I know it needs the moisture badly. Fresh & Easy has a line that I like called Retreat, no obvious sulfates or silicone and good for color treated hair. Works well for me and moisturizing!

Yea, I think unfortunately the glycerin is too high on their list for us fine curlies with a weaker wave pattern, So I believe I had glycerin overload! It seems much better now that I've stopped using it as far as my curls go, not stringy/greasy looking but of course I have a little more frizz, argh! There is no happy medium!

could you try alternating it with other condishioners? thats what i do. also NG has some that dont have protein-- did you check out the other ones. The aloe vera one and the jojoba one dont have glycerin. and in the hemp one it is way down at the bottom. i got the ingred right from their web site so i would HOPE they are the new ones. I was checking them all out to check the very same thing!!

Hockeyrules-I looked at the website when I got mine and they still had the old ingred. on there and had not updated it yet. I've also looked at most of the new ones in stores I've been in and so far it looks like they put glycerin as the second or third ingred. in all of them for some odd reason. I'll keep checking though because I liked it. Unfortunately I was so bummed about my hair at the time and I returned it and got something else.

My stores must still have the old ones then. I checked at grocery store today and bought that pom one and the aloe. No glycerin or waay at the end. I ha've been using them forever. Maybe I should run back and stock up!

It doesn't make my scalp itchy
Hello people!
I was planning to do the CG method again. I quit CG before because it made my scap itchy and very irritated. I used VO5, A'kin, and the older Nature's gate hemp conditioner. All made my scalp really really itchy.
I suffered really bad from frizz. So I wanted to do the CG method again. luckily, I found out that they removed a lot of harmful chemicals in their products. So I bought the new hemp conditioner.
I used it a while ago and it didn't make my scalp itch. It doesn't have chemicals that are too harsh on the scalp. For that, I think I'm gonna stick with this product.
I have a few frizz though... but they're very manageable. As for stringy hair, I think I'll just have a weekly PT.
I'll try it for two weeks to really see if it won't make my scalp itchy and if doesn't make too much problems.

I love the NC Pom/sunflower condish and have been using it for months now.
I just reordered the condish and the shampoo on Vitacost.com - it was a great price so i thought id try it. Ive been using TJs Refresh and Giovanni Tea Tree..... I need to rotate shampoos, depending on the weather/season and my hair.
and it smells awesome too!!

I was wrong
Just an update here...
I realized that my hair hates protein! I used the new and improved hemp conditioner for co washing (cg) a few months back and though it didnt leave my scalp itchy, it made my hair really dry...
I noticed that all of their conditioners have portein in them (hydrolyzed soy and vegetable protein)
Its really disappointing. I mean, the scent is great and there are no harmful ingredients in it. The protein just ruined it. I think that I would really love the reformulated conditioners if only they were PROTEIN FREE...
I am curious if their aloe moisturizing conditioner is really moisturizing though. The ingredients are pretty much the same as the ingredients of the other conditioners but this one has aloe vera extracts...
Has anyone tried it? Is it moisturizing enough???
I hope they reformulate their conditioners again...
