Default Best products for super dry, damaged hair?

I have (or had) a mixture of 2c, 3a, and 3b, but mostly 3a. A horrible bleach job among other things left the ends of my hair basically straight!! I have about 3 inches of regrowth, so now the roots and crown of my hair are really curly and frizzy and the rest is wavy/straight but still frizzy. I really don't want to cut it either. I've tried plenty of expensive deep treatment and even if they do hydrate and cut frizz they won't encourage my curls to come back. And I have to keep damaging it by heat styling because I'm sure you could imagine how ridiculous half curly half straight hair would look

I'm going to try coconut oil and cholesterol. Do you have any specific suggestions for coco. oil or cholesterol? Or any other recs?

Unfortunately if your is as damaged as it sounds then the curls might not be able to come back. Bleach is a strong chemical and it can do permanent damage easily.

I think your best bet is to do a protein treatment (Aphogee is one I hear a lot about) and then follow that with a deep conditioner. You may have to alternate the two treatments for a couple of washes (you'll want to space out the protein treatments most likely) and be really gentle with your hair to see any results.

But again the damage might be permanent. If you find you've tried everything and still can't get your curls to return (and don't want to cut), then I would focus on finding ways to stretch out your new growth/curly hair without using heat so that it blends more with the straight pieces. Or maybe curling the straight pieces without heat. Flat ironing really increases the chances that you'll have to cut.

Sorry this happened to you. In the grand scheme of things three inches isn't so bad. If you do end up cutting, you'll have that amount back before you know it

I agree that PTs+DTs are probably the way to go!

Here is a really helpful link:

I really do recommend that you get some CJ products, namely the Repair Me and Curl Rehab. They are really good at what they are supposed to do! You can get samples from kathymack (member here on naturallycurly.com) to try first if you don't want to commit!
