Shea Moisture Curling Souffle
I am soooo pleased with Shea Moisture right now and I haven't been so excited about the results that I've gotten with a product since I last went to the hair dresser in 2007.
I used the SMCS on top of my twists and twist outs and my hair looks GREAT! Benefits:
1.Incredible shine (big deal for me because I am prone to excessively dry ashy looking hair and skin...especially in the winter. That often tempts me to straighten in the winter so I can add some type of greasy sheen).
2.Moisture and bounce (My hair has NEVER been so moisturized. In fact I don't think I've fully caught on to what moisture means until I felt my hair in this state...and I've been natural since 2005. NICE. My twist outs were bouncing and behaving big time. So much so that when I turn my head, they turn also...when the wind blows, they blow also...Aaaaand return back to their former position.)
3. Not Hard with Definition and Hold (I think it is supposed to be like a gel..but it does not get hard at all and caused definition that I typically only get with Ecostyler. I like Ecostyler but it gets hard and works best on newly washed hair.)
4.Decent Price and Available at Target (I slap some in the palms of my hands, rub my hands, and work through from root to ends so I haven't been using that much. I think it was about ten bucks.. I really feel it was worth it)
5. Simple Ingredients (I have been using coconut oil for years now for sheen and moisture with but in the winter, I still get that freeze in the cold effect. I don't really like glycerin but I don't really think I used glycerin properly. This product has agave, pectin, aloe vera, and other things that seem natural/without alcohol or other drying/stripping agents. Im no expert here but you can check it out for yourself.)
This is the first time Ive used this product and I am hoping that it doesnt dissapoint after a few times. I typically rock my twist outs for about 2 weeks (they look best after a few days). I am on the middle of themy second week now and they are still soft. I have been reapplying every few days.
Has anyone else used this for other styles?

I realized that I didn't post the not so great stuff...
1. Because I am keeping it in for several weeks, there is a bit of buildup (not visible but I can feel it if I keep touching my hair.. which I have been doing because it is so soft. LOL).
2. Do not allow it to clump in one place in your head (this is almost common sense) or it makes you look like you have drops of water/clear something in your hair.
3. I work out and with all the bounce, my hair kept hitting my ears... not sure if it was the heat from my head or sweat but I could feel a bit of the product on my ears afterwards.

You are probably using too much. A little goes a long way. Also, it you put it under a cream based sealer it seems not to be tacky. As a sealer, I have used Shealoe butter, Qhemet Biologics Hydrate & Twist Butter, Qhemet Biologics Cocoa Detangling Ghee and the curl enhancing smoothie. All worked well except for the Ghee, it was to heavy for my hair.

How would you all compare this to KCCC?

Didn't like KCCC. Too expensive, took too long for my hair to dry, major shrinkage.

I ask because they look very similar and the PJ in me wants to try the souffle but it's looks so much like KCCC which I cannot stand 😊

I bought some last year and used it on and off and still have 3/4 of the jar left. I loved the smell in the jar, but in my hair it's just too strong (and it lingers forever). I've tried using it in every way possible, but I think I just don't have the right hair type for it (I'm 2c/3a). My hair doesn't really absorb it; it just sits on top of my hair and it definitely feels producty, even when I use a very small amount. I have used it to SOTC with success, but again, the smell is too much for me. In the past, I have mixed small amounts of it in DTs and FSG. I think I'm going to try to finish it up by using it just as a DT. After it rinses out, it definitely makes my hair very soft.

Sorry for the delayed response.. Life got in the way.
I am a 4B.. my hair does coil but it is definitely 4B. NOTHING makes it lay down. I have arm pit length hair now and in its untamed state, it can turn into a 2.5 inch afro.

To respond to Nikki (and to update folks on my progress with the SMCS), I am LOVING Kinky Curly right about now.
SMCS Update: I used the Shea Moisture in the winter and about 2 months ago, I realized that it is not a good product for me in warm weather.. I was out with friends at a park and they noted that there were no mosquitoes there before I showed up.. I distinctly recall having bathed that morning(LOL) so I was trying to understand what the issue may have been.. it took me a bit to realize that it was actually my hair. The first few ingredients in the Shea Moisture are sugary. It did a GREAT job keeping my hair moist in the winter but I don't think I like small critters hovering around my head.. I can always transition back next winter.
I also realized that when I used it on my wash, ponytail or bun, and go's in the spring, if any water/product mix dripped on my clothing, it left a wet looking stain there all day. Lucky enough it washed out.
My Dilemma: I was traumatized when I realized that I can no longer use Ecostyler in my summer hair mix. It WORKS but something in there makes my hands peel and gives me a sore throat (crazy but I have finally been able to trace the symptoms back to my hair product).
Summertime Fix: I've moved on to KCCC. I think they must have changed the formula since I last used it 4 years ago because it has been drying rather quickly for me. I almost feel like the more I use the KCCC, the more defined my hair becomes and the easier it has become to detangle... even after I wash it with my Shea Moisture shampoo (which I only do once every 2 weeks). The KCCC allows me to finally wear my hair in a pony puff (instead of a bun) to work. The puff is defined, shiny, and looks crisp. Normally my puffs are all over the place. Also, with the KCCC, I no longer need to put a scarf on my head to smooth out the top. Wearing a scarf for half of my public transit commute (until my hair dries enough) makes me look like I didn't have enough time to get ready in the morning (LOL). Smoothing it with my fingers and the KCCC has been enough! A-MAZING (if you knew my hair and all the short pieces in the front you would understand). That alone makes this one a winner...

SMCS is my faaaave gel. I've been through quite a few gels and this one is IT for me. I am already in love with shea moisture products!
My only complaint is my wash n gos are oily for half the day, but it could be that I'm heavy handed. I rake it through my hair on top of SM's curl and style milk and i have defined curls for days.
