I've recently discovered that Deva's Ultra Defining Gel does great things for my hair, even giving me good second-day hair (miracle of miracles!). The thing is, on a grad student's budget (and considering how much product I use at one time), the price tag is off-putting. I know it's a relatively new product, but have any of you tried it, and then found something more affordable that performs similarly?
The ingredients list, if it's helpful: Water (Aqua, Eau), VP/VA Copolymer, Glycerin, Polyquaternium-7, Polysorbate 20, Triticum Aestivum (Wheat) Peptide, Avena Sativa (Oat) Peptide, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Peptide, Melissa Officinalis Extract, Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Aminomethyl Propanol, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Fragrance (Parfum).
Not exactly the same, but similar:
Alba Strong Hold Gel
I don't use gel anymore, but I used to like one from Sally's called Ion Daily Solutions Styling Gelle. It's under $10.00 for a 6 oz tube. For me it has that "melty" feeling that Deva's gels get when they touch wet hair. It's not a "dupe" in any way, though.
