Thumbs down Curl Junkie Coffee Coco Curl Creme Lite

I have given this product several tries in different ways and am just unable to get it to work for me. I originally bought it to help me with second day hair, but when I used it to try to re-vamp my 2nd day hair, it turned it to a stringy mess.

I hate wasting money on products so I tried it again at different times in the product application process. I used it alone, with a hard hold gel after, under CK, and under CK and HESMU. No matter how I use it, my hair looks stringy and frizzy. Oh well.

CCCCL was a disappointment for me, too. I loved the smell, and could sometimes get good curl enhancement, but I didn;t like the way it felt on my hair - heavy and coated, no matter how little I used. I bought it several times, thinking it was just my technique or the othett products I was using with it, but I always wound up putting it on the swap board

I haven't been able to identify the culprit, but I suspect it's either the polyquats and/or the silk protein.

maybe you used it in low dews? It contains glycerin right? That can cause problems in dry air.

Bleached-damaged 3a hair. Fine, porous&dry, medium to high density. Goal: growing the overly-bleached hair out (I only do some highlights in the out grow every 3-4 months), and have long healthy hair till at least BSL when curly.

loves: CJ products, jessicurl rocking ringlets, proteïn, co-washing, leave-in conditioner, diffusing, air-drying, pineapple method.
hates: glycerin in low dews, bleaching too much

Experimenting with MSM&biotin on the moment

Glycerin is pretty low on the ingredients list, about 2/3 of the way down.

That's a good point about the dews, but a) I've tried CCCCL at every time of year, with similar results, and b) here in Florida, we rarely get low dewpoints. Today's dp was 65 degrees! Pretty sick for mid-Feb.

I know this product is a staple for many people, but unfortunately it just wasn't for me : (

True, the dew points have been low here in New England. Perhaps I'll put it away and try again in the summer.

Jules, I have good luck with it (on baby-fine 3b hair) in two ways:

1) With my hair sopping wet (dripping over the bathtub!), I work an amount smaller than a dime through the length before I put on my styler (Deva Styling Lotion), or

2) To use it to refresh second-day hair, I take the tiniest amount possible (size of a pencil eraser), spritz some plain water into it, mix it up, and smooth it over my canopy and into my ends.

Everyone's hair is different, I know, but just in case this is helpful I thought I'd share.

Maggie,

Thanks for the tips! I'll give those a try.

Me too for the second day tip. I love CCCL and have never thought of trying it on the 2nd day.

Ok, so I am beginning to change my mind about this product. I used it this evening on still wet conditioned hair and I got pretty good definition and bounce with lots of spirals and ringlets.

How great! I also found it wasn't instant with this product -- but now I am a big fan. Hope your hair keeps looking beautiful!
