KCCC: Did I finally figure it out ?? !!
After watching Mysteryflavored video, I realized that I was likely using about twice the amount of KCCC that I needed to use. I applied it the way Mystery showed, with a couple of tweaks of my own ... and yippee ... my hair looks awesome
My major complaint with KCCC has always been that I can't get my hair to dry. My hair takes a long time under normal circumstances, but with KCCC it stays wet for more than half the day (even with diffusing).
I thought I'd share what I did in case anyone has experienced the same problems I have been:- After washing, I scrunched out some of the water before I applied KCKT. I applied about a nickel's worth of KCKT upside down. I used my Acquis towel and scrunched a couple of times so that my hair was no longer drippy (before applying KCCC).
- I applied KCCC the way Mystery applied it:
- leaned to one side and scrunched in about a quarter's worth
- leaned to the other side and did the same thing
- leaned forward and applied about the same amount again with my head tipped upside down.
- scrunched in some gel - today I used KMS Cranberry & Pepper
- scrunched some more with the Acquis towel.
- diffused using the Pixiecurl method.
- clipped and diffused some more.
- let it air dry the rest of the way
- scrunched out the crunch with N&S
- after I was certain it was 100% dry, I scrunched in some MGA texturizing paste to add a little more hold and volume.
The big difference between the way I did this as compared to any other time was:- using my hands and scrunching out some water before applying leave-in (KCKT)
- using the Acquis towel to scrunch out more water before applying the KCCCC
- and ... using the Acquis towel to scrunch out even more before I started diffusing.
With any other product, if I scrunched this much with a MF towel, I'd have cotton candy hair. Because the KCCC holds so much water, this seemed to be what it needed. By doing this my hair didn't take any longer to dry than it normally does. Something I have NEVER experienced while using KCCC.
I hope this helps ... and another big thank you to Mysteryflavored for the how-to video for applying the KCCC.

Oh, all these "I finally figured out KCCC posts" are making want to buy the darn product and try it again. I ended up swapping it after a few unsuccessful attempts. The hair that took all day to dry was one of my complaints about it too. Someone else posted about their success by not applying it to soaking hair.

This combo definitely increases drying time. I followed the tips from a previous thread and put the product into drier hair. I squeezed out the excess water, combed thru the KCKT, plopped, then put in the KCCC. Huge improvement.

I'm thinking that perhaps today was "I'm going to make KCKT/ KCCC work for me if I have to die trying" day....
I, too, decided to take previous posters' advice (mysteryflavored, but also Curly Girl Fla, who was the one who recommended applying the products to less wet hair). At last, I am very happy with the results! My hair looks very natural but not frizzy, is boingy, and didn't take hours to dry (although it still took longer than my other routines!).
My other problem with this combo, though, is that it usually gives me frizz by the end of the day. We'll see if today is any different.... Fingers crossed!
FrizzBgone, your experience further proves that less water is desirable when using this combo. Thank you for reporting!

This is exactly how I feel about KCCC! I keep trying....sometimes I have good luck, sometimes not so much. I want to like it....I have a whole tub of it!!!
I am going to give this FrizzBeGone's method tomorrow and see what happens.

Magoo, was it me who benefited from your exasperation?
I've been thinking about how long my hair's been taking to dry, even with plopping. Now I know it's KCCC.
Once again, FBG to my rescue. Thanks!

It drove me crazy how long it took for this stuff to dry in the beginning. I mean, it would never dry. Now, I've actually been using just the KCCC alone with really good results, and since I'm not using conditioner and am squeezing out that excess water, drying time isn't much of an issue. Today I actually air-dried, which I never do, and, well, it dried! And doesn't look too bad-not as much body and boing as if I diffused, but no frizz, lots of shine...I just ordered my second tub of this from CurlMart-possibly an almost all-natural HG!

Ya gotta love curly girl team work
Thanks so much ... I actually downloaded your video to my pc, so I can review it whenever I need to !!!
LOL I did exactly the same thing. I swapped my KCCC away after it gave me yet another bad hair day. After watching the video, I could have kicked myself. Another curly here was kind enough to send me a sample, so I could try it again without the investment. By the time I factor in shipping, it is a costly product.
I hope it helps Jill. This is the only product that I use my Acquis towel with. I haven't used it in ages because I found they took too much water out of my hair - it works like a charm with KCCC.

Well, I had a much better day today with KCCC than I have in the past, but there is still a *little* more frizz than I'd like (although the curls are still great!).
Next time, I'll take out even *more* water and see if that helps!

I am glad I didn't get rid of mine - I was saving for cooler weather but I might try it again with less wet hair (but I actually never had 'bad' hair days with it - just better ones when it was not as hot out).

Do you scrunch in any gel afterwards? And ... are you using KCKT? I use about a quarter size blob of KCKT. I apply the KCCC exactly the same way that Mysteryflavored does and then scrunch in gel. The only thing I do differently than Mystery did was using the Acquis MF towel to remove the water. I never scrunch with a towel like this with any other product. If I did, I'd have a fuzzy mess. It seems to be exactly what KCCC needs though.
I never thought it was possible, but I have had 4 great hair days thanks to KCKT/KCCC combo (with a little gel scrunched in for good measure) .... and more importantly, I didn't have to wait until the end of the day for my hair to be dry. It still takes longer than other products, but it is well worth it. My hair curls so well with this that I don't mind it looking a little wet, because it still looks 'done' ... not like I woke up late.

Yes, I did use the KCKT -- about a nickel's worth to very squeezed out hair. And I applied the KCCC mysteryflavored-style.
Without my trusty Excel spreadsheet to consult, I can't even remember whether I used gel! (Crazy day at work today. I am brain dead.) I think I did, though. But I am going to try this combo again tomorrow, and get rid of even more water before applying the KCCC.
Will update with new results at the end of the day tomorrow! It's fabulous that you're having such great luck with this stuff! I am determined to have it, too.

I am super happy with the KCKT & KCCC combo! I apply the KCKT in the shower and rinse it out a bit (I have a greasiness issue otherwise). Then I squeeze out extra water and scrunch in KCCC, then scrunch with microfiber towel. (does the aquis towel work much better?- i've never tried it) Yesterday, I think I used way too much KCCC and my hair was super crunchy and stiff- I had to scrunch the hell out of the crunch when it dried, and it still turned out good, but now i know not too use so much! Geez, the KC products are picky! You have to apply them perfectly otherwise they don't work as well. I had a flaking issue too- anyone else have that problem? Yesterday it wasn't so bad though, it might've been the poo or condish I was using. But anyway I'm so happy I tried this out- thank you guys for the samples and mysteryflavored for the awesome video. You guys rock!

I was having some end-of-the-day frizz issues with KCCC until I started using a little Curl Keeper before it. Much better! I now get the bounce and boing of KCCC with no frizz. I scrunch in a little BRHG over the top, and I'm done!
I can't believe how much I love this stuff! I almost didn't buy it because I was convinced it wouldn't work on my hair.
Thanks again to Mystery Flavored too. I never would have dared to try that much product if I hadn't seen her do it.

After several unsuccessful attempts with KCKT and KCCC,i think i'm getting a grip on how to make it work for me.I added some pix on my fotki.I needed to use a bit more KCKT then i thought, two quarter size blobs which i combed through fairly wet hair.I scrunched alot of water out then plopped for a few minutes;added the KCCC like mysteryflavored did in her video and added a quarter size blob of Biolage gelee to my ends and canopy to prevent frizz.I scrunched for a few minutes, then diffused using the pixie method till almost fully dry(never touching with my hands),air dried for half an hr and scrunched out the crunch with Got2B shine and define pomade.
One of my mistakes before was scrunching the hair a bit when i would start diffusing,it would make my hair frizz.Going to work now,so i'll know by morning if my hair starts to frizz.I'm pretty happy with it now.

A little trick I have for eliminating end-of-the-day frizz is to mix a bit of Jessicurl Confident Coils with the KCCC for a stronger hold throughout the day, without sacrificing any of the silky softness I get from using just the KCKT & KCCC. Also, mixing a tiny dab of KCCC with water in the palm of my hand and smoothing/scrunching into dry hair really tames down the floofies in the evening.
