I have been using this gel for the last 8 years. I believe so strongly in this product that I went into a panic one day when one of the women working at the beauty supply store I buy it from, told me the company was going out of business. I have been buying it by the case ever since. I love that it's not too light but doesn't weigh my hair down either. It leaves my hair sparkling, bright and shiny. It doesn't flake nor does it get dull or gray. My curls have bounce and every curl is defined. When I meet anyone who asks me what I use on my hair, I can't say enough about it.
Another plus I've found it has is, when I'm traveling and wake up on the plane, train or in the car and there's no access to a shower... all I have to do is spritz my hair with a little water and BANG...the same shine, bounce and curl for the entire day! A fantastic product at a fantastic price!
Sadie, what is your hair type?

You gals who love this -- how much do you use? I've used a fair amount -- didn't seem like enough -- and used a lot and it feels producty to me. It doesn't seem like it spreads through the hair evenly to me making me use perhaps more than necessaray.

Mixed a smaller amount with AOMM and used it over by leave-in. Got great, soft curls. I guess it was just too heavy when it used it straight. I luv both the brown & krystal

I just picked up the krystal and the olive oil from Sally's. 2 for $7. I've never used it before, so I'll post my thoughts on it when I do.

Are they really going out of business? I just discovered this gel two years ago and love...it figures once you find something that works they eventually stop making it...just like HEHG!!!

I scoop it out of the jar with three fingers, probably about equal to the size of 2 grapes. I have very fine, thin hair though so a little product goes a long way

I use a quarter-sized glob, emulsify in my hands, and squish in my hair until it makes that squishy sound we all squish for. I may dip back in for a little more. HTH!

I tried this again yesterday, but just can't get past how it makes my hair feel, no matter how much or little I use. And it doesn't come close to KCCC for me . I used only KCCC today, and my hair is so much happier...

Did you ever try applying it in the shower? I used to apply it this way to soaking wet hair, when i was lazy i would do it over/in the sink with cold water.

I was very heavy handed with this gel back in the day...like had to buy the gallon type deal, until this year i read how somebody sectioned their hair and applied the products.

Now i use much much less and get less crunchy hair.

I section my hair. I scoop out maybe a dimes worth with two fingers and smooth in starting at the root.

When I first tried it, I used it by itself and didn't get good results but seems like when I use it over pracitcally anything else, it really enhances. I love KCCC and yesterday finally decided to try the Ecostyler over the KCCC and my curls were even more defined than when I use the KCCC by itself. Loved the results.

I did use it on very wet and not-so-wet hair...Maybe I'll layer it next time. The funny thing is, I keep tryiing to minimize, find something like KCCC that is cheaper and will work alone, but I keep adding to my gel graveyard! I just bought 2 cheapie Lustrasilk gels -I used to love the strong hold one, but couldn't find it anymore, and this grocery store had it and a Lustrasilk dark protein gel...had to do it...I suppose I'll experiment with those next ...I appreciate the ecostyler feedback and will try again next week...Florida is just hell on hair right now...

Used it today over my own FSG -- and it didn't last the day out -- curls just wilted and ended up fluffly and I was inside a/c all day. If I use KCCC over my FSG, my hair never changes. Maybe I'll try it with BRHG -- maybe it needs a little more hold here. Right now, it ain't happenin' in Fl with this gel.

I dont find much hold with it. It works more like a curl cream for me and I use a gel over it for hold. I do find its to moisturizing for me to use a leave in under it. There is a certain amount of a producty feel to it. I comb a small amount through and scrunch another small amount in after to get my clumps back. The only bad hair day I had this week was the day I didnt use eco styler.

It's true that this is by no means a hard hold gel. I've found that I can't use a hard hold gel because I can't get all the crunch out of my ends, and it looks very strange. I still really like this gel, and I've found that I like the brown one equally well, although it seems to perform differently. I think it gives my hair more body, and there's no glycerin in it.

My one complaint with these gels is that my hair does take longer to dry.

the company is not going out of business...I just spoke with the company ecocoinc.com,...i called them by phone to tell them personally what i thought about there product and told them not to ever go out of business....they said the the ecostyler line is one of the best lines in the US..if you look on their website, they have other products as well...but don't fret ladies, ecostyler gel is here to stay

ok, so I had to try - and I got a new version with Olive Oil - so far, so good! I love how soft my hair feels - and I used a good amount - as well as the super soak/Deva method... very nice! I certainly will have plenty to experiment with - the jar is HUGE! they didn't have small ones ... thanks for the suggestion!

I use quite a bit (about 4 quarter size globs)...to the point it's difficult to get my fingers through my hair and it feels gummy...but yet, even though it seems like it's going to dry hard and unscrunchable, once I SOTC my hair is extremely soft and defined. And best of all no frizz!

The only thing I don't care for is when I wet my hair to co-wash it has a producty feel but as soon as I put in my conditioner all is good again.

I must say I really like this stuff. And you definitely can't beat the price.
I just tried out this stuff yesterday. I agree it is some bizzare stuff!!! and felt very weird and hard to distribute into my hair. I put it in after a bit of leave in, in very wet hair, raked it through then srunched in a bit more and then put some LA Looks sport gel over top. I gently scrunched with a towel and then let air dry. Once I scrunched out the tiny bit of crunch, I had some beautiful, soft, shiny curls. They were not as defined as I would have liked them to be but then I lightly coated my hands with some more Ecostyler and lightly went over my canopy and lightly scrunched and had some awesome curls. Looks like a keeper!
