Got my order today finally (ordered 2 weeks ago). Shipping time is definitely a drawback.
I got the Pumpkin Seed Conditioner and asked for a sample of the Coconut Aloe Pudding. She sent me a sample of African Musk Oil instead . I guess I can't complain; beggers can't be choosers after all. I'm not really sure what I'll do with the oil though since my hair doesn't like straight oil...I guess it'll end up in a DT.
I agree with everyone who has said the pumpkin seed conditioner smells really good.
Is the pumpkin seed conditioner exclusively a rinse out or has anyone has success with it as a leave in?? I'll try it as a rinse out tomorrow

New here...feels like coming home ;*)
Wow. You ladies are a wealth of knowledge and information - my curly little head is a spinning! Just discovered this site...trying to sift through and learn all I can....taking notes to make sure I don't forget any thing!
So far I realize that I'm a 3b and while my hair is very curly, it doesn't really hold curl all that well...it's a bit limp.
Can someone give me some tips on what to order to start with? I live in a cold/dry climate right now and my hair is too soft in the winter...needs something to give it some hold.
Can't wait to hear your thoughts!
Jeannie

What products are you currently using? And do you mean soft like too moisturized (needs protein), or soft like it's not holding your curl? Are you looking for Darcy's stuff, or any brand?

What I mean by too soft is it's fluffy and not well defined. hth
I'm currently using Aussie shampoo & conditioner and then Kiwi Blow Serum by Artec (I think) as a styler product.
Yes, I'm interested in Darcy's stuff...looks like you ladies are getting amazing results from it!

If you need definition I'd suggest the Coils Curling Jelly - however, some people don't like it and say it makes their hair hard. I use a moisturizer under it and find it to be a very light gel, but not the best for fighting frizz alone. I get the best results with the Jelly when I use it with the Madagascar Vanilla Styling Creme, which I suggest you get as a moisturizer, even if it's just to seal at night, because it is amazing...

Does that styling cream have much hold to it? What is it about it that is so great?

Girlysoxfan: Welcome! The best place to start in trying to figure out your curly hair is this thread
From that thread, you will discover that most of us here follow something called the Curly Girl method of hair care, which involves eliminating sulfates (which translates to eliminating most commercial shampoos from our routines) and silicones (which are found in many drugstore conditioners and styling products). We do this because sulfates are really really drying on our already dry curly hair, and in order to cut out the sulfates, we need to cut out the silicones that aren't water soluble. There's much much more information (this is just a cursory intro for you) in that thread that I posted. Read each one of the links given to you in the first post completely.
After you've got a working knowledge of all that, then you can start to think about products and routines. If you've got more questions, don't hesitate to ask

The styling creme doesn't have hold, but I use it to soften up gel hold or to moisturize/seal at night. It makes my hair feel buttery. And it smells ridonkulously amazing.

I got a jar of the avocado & honey twisting cream from the swap board....used it today as a curl cream (over a leave in, under KCCC) and wow!!! It definitely enchanced my curls......My hair is soooo curly..my camera is on the blitz or I would post pictures. I'm waiting on the madagascar vanilla creme and the coconut lemongrass creme. I'll probably try them out the same and then decide which I like best. I'm really loving Darcy's products!!! My normally 2c/3a hair is soooo close to being...dare I say...3c with this combo today!!

Yes they are!!
I tried the tucuma whip with this combo instead of the A&H the other day...I got great results with it as well, but not quite the curl enhancement. I know that my hair loves honey and maybe that's why the A&H worked better....I find that my hair does really well with a cream under KCCC.
My daughter's hair is more 3a/b...and my mom even commented today that my hair looked much curlier, like my daughters .

I'm avoiding glycerin until the dews rise consistently, so instead of the A&H, I have the Avocado & Wild Plum Twisting Creme, which I like a lot. I haven't played around much with the Tucuma Butter because of the glycerin, but it makes a nice hand cream!
Today I used only the Pumpkin Conditioner for a leave-in with no additional stylers. I have nice soft curls with nice volume.

I got my package today!!! Everything smells wonderful!!
ETA: I did receive the samples that I requested...so I'm very happy. I put some of the coconut lemongrass transitioning creme on my hands and this makes a wonderful lotion!! I love the scent! I can't wait to try everything out.

Anyone have any input on the deep conditioning mask? If you've used it, what would you compare it to? TIA.

Thanks! I'm trying to decide between Darcy's or CJ.
I used the madagscar vanilla creme today over a dab of the coconut lemongrass creme (for detangling and conditioning), and under KCCC....and I always top with a dab of Gel-les'C. These cremes together are very moisturizing and non greasy. I only used about a teaspoon of each, my hair is a little past waist length. I then used a dab of the MVSC to sotc and my hair is so soft and shiney. I love this combo as well as the others. I do have to say that the avocado/honey gives me the most shrinkage so far. I really love Darcy's products! I've been using the coco/lemongrass creme as a lotion too and I love it! I'm going to have to stock up on the coco/lemongrass transitioning cream since it has multiple uses.
Madagascar vanilla styling creme smells like french vanilla bean ice cream, yum!

does anyone know if she plans to start making some things in bigger sizes? I thought I heard something about the pumpkin conditioner being available in a bigger bottle at some point. I am hoping she does that with a few other things as well, like the hydrating milk!
