Default Kiss My Face Upper Management Gel - I'm liking it!

I posted this on the general board under the topic of health food store stylers, but I thought I would put it over here in the product reviews section.

I recently purchased Kiss My Face Upper Management Gel from a local natural foods store. I'm really liking this stuff. The ingredients are really different from your normal gel stuff.

Quote:
(copied from drugstore.com)

Certified Organic Water of Utrica Dioica, Caledndula Officinalis & Athemis Nobilis, Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate (Amino Acid derived), Faex, Pantehnol, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Citrus Grandis

I think it's great at reducing frizz and makes my hair feel so soft. It even seems to add some shine. It can dry a bit stiff, but just a little scrunching and I get great, soft curls. It has a wonderful grapefruit scent. It's definitely on my "want to buy again" list.

Me today. Activate Hydrating Conditioner, a wee bit of Charles Worthington leave in conditioner, and the Upper Management styling gel.

I wish I had this much volume without flipping my hair all to one side!

On drugstore.com the list price is $7.99. The store I bought it from had it on sale for about $6. It's an 8 oz. bottle.

Your hair looks great! I think the Hyaluronic Acid is supposed supposed to be a great moisture attracter.

Thank you.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I know it's put in a lot of face creams.

One curly on here even mixes it with emu oil to get what she calls the "perfect moisturizer" (for skin). Apparently it really helps moisture sink in. Who knew?

Well...I guess that curly did...

How is a hold on this one? Me desperate to find a gel with good hold, good clumping, and not too much frizz... getting a little loony in my search

I pm'd you with more details. However, if anyone else is interested, the manufacturer considers this a medium hold product. I get great clumping with it and it cuts down on frizz for me.

How's the crunch factor and does it help with volume at all? I'm a big fan of Abba WG but can't use it constantly. I also really like the Origins gel but not the price or availability. ArcAngell was a great summer gel for me but it's too crunchy for winter so I could be tempted by this.

BTW, your hair is truly beautiful!

thank you.

It can dry a little crunchy, but it is easily scrunched out. Yet, when you scrunch it out, the curls still hold their formation, at least for me (the "disclaimer").

I've not tried any of those gels you mention, so I can't really compare.

Yes, it's thick. It feels a wee bit sticky, too, in an aloe vera type way -- you know, like when you have the real plant and break a stalk to get out the gel--it feels a bit goopy. However, it's not sticky at all when it dries.

Brio, it looks like your hair is really growing out! Nice!!!

Here's a link on the HA, it is a somewhat commercial link but with a lot of info on hyaluronic acid:

http://www.hyalogic.com/about_hyaluronic_acid.htm

Don't think there's much info on HA & hair, sounds like it could benefit dry scalps, though. BTW I'm not the curly who knows everything about HA, but it IS an excellent ingred for skin care!

Thanks about the hair. It's been 1.5 years since the big chop. I suppose in April I will have to have an online celebration for my 2 year anniversary of growing it out and not straightening it.

thanks for the info on the HA, too. I am hoping that it helps with hair care, too. I've done just a bit of reading on it in the past when looking into skin care lines. Never seen it in a hair product, though, not until now.

I found a sample (under my sink!!) that I purchased at the health food store awhile ago and forgot about -- I will give it a try and let you know how it works!

ETA: I used this gel this morning -- it felt identical to how arc angell feels going into my hair -- very similar consistency and feel. I like the way it smells it reminds me of the CL scent in Jessicurl's products.

If this performs like AA, I will most definitely get this!

And, I used VO5 Creamy Peaches -- OMG, great curl definition right out of the shower....amazing.

hockeymomof3 - I have been having the same kind of amazing results with Suave Mango Peach (discontinued, of course!). Great definition & the best clumping I've ever had!! I'm wondering if it has something to do with the "peach"?? For some odd reason, I can't use VO5 because of the stearal(blah blah) chloride - causes MAJOR overconditioning-like frizz on my hair!!
