Helllo,
I made my first batch of FSG and the results have been disappointing. My hair is soft, but very frizzy! It's weird, it has a nice hold on the curl in some parts (the back of my hair), other parts (the front sides) are like a cotton ball. At the same time, my hair looks coarse, and messy, like it needs to be brushed. I dunno, maybe I need to add something to get more moisture in the gel?
Here's what I did:
Boiled golden flax seeds, I think it was 1/2 cup to 2 cups water, and lowered the heat once I saw the gel.
Then I tried straining it, but it wouldn't strain. I wound up having to add water and reboil about three time before I had about 8oz and just gave up and threw what was left in the pan in a ziplocak bag to freeze it. After it was strained I added epsom salt (I can't remember how much), because my hair needs some help getting the curl out, 1/2 tsp agave nectar and grapefruit seed extract (I have roommates, they don't want me keeping my hair products in the fridge so I need a preservative). I may have overdid the GFS extract by accident, I think there's about 10 drops in my 8 oz bottle.
The gel is a bit watery, which I am inclined to think might have something to do with the messy, coarse look. I was making a homemade leave-in conditioning spray. I just poured water into my conditioner containers when they were done, swooshed it around and then poured the conditioner and water mix into a spray bottle. I stopped this because of the messy, coarse look I got.
So what do you girls think? Too much water perhaps? If so, how do I get this to strain next time? Any suggestions on amounts of what I should add next time I try a batch to get soft looking, less frizzy curl?
Thanks!
