I made gel dye! Mix my favorite gel with unsweetened kool aid, and apply gel as usual. It worked! Though I couldn't see much on my dark hair. Next time I'm going to add a white powder to make it opaque. And it washed right out with my next conditioner wash.

Hi,
I recently started my natural hair journey (yay me!) and need help. I just joined the forum today too I have looked through many blogs and forums not to mention watched countless videos. The wealth of information from you all is absolutely amazing.

Does anyone have recipes for making homemade shampoo and conditioner bars to share please? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS. I hope this is the best part of the forum to ask this.

Stay blessed!!

I made a batch of flax seed gel with marshmallow root yesterday! It's super slippery and smells lightly herbal. I hope it gives my hair a bit more hold in this humid summer weather. *crosses fingers*

DIY Flax Seed Gel with Marshmallow Root

3 cups filtered water
1/2 dark brown flax seeds
1/2 cub dried marshmallow root

Combine water, flax seeds and marshmallow root in a pot. Cook on medium heat for 15 minutes. Strain mixture via a knee high stocking stretched over a ceramic bowl. Let cool for 15 minutes. Transfer via funnel to a 12-once plastic spout top bottle. Makes ~ 10 ounces. Use as styling gel. Store in refrigerator for ~ 3 weeks.

Lasagna, but I didn't have enough sauce, so it's kind of lame.

At least it doesn't have corn and/or black beans in it, a la a friend of mine who "surprised" me with "vegetarian lasagna."
