Have you tried flaxseed gel yet? You just boil water and add like 2 spoons of flaxseeds. Let it get thick. Gel. I never use it because I just couldn't make it work for my hair, but other peeps like it a lot.

Flaxseed gel is the only gel I've ever heard of anyone making. Here's the actual recipe if you want it.

Okay, awesome. I read the thread about the FSG but I still have a couple questions. Im sorry if this is redundant, I tried skimming through that 12 page thread.

FSG= water and flax seeds and a preservative. What is used for a preservative?

Also, everyone in the thread was talking about adding all these different things that I had no idea what they were, what they did, or where you could buy them. Can someone make a hair gel ingredient list for dummies list. I just dont know what I need or whats necessary.

Im basically looking for something close to KCCC with really hard hard hold. I use KCCC as my HG but I use A LOT and am a little sick of paying for the gel. What should I add to it.

Flax seed gel will not give you really strong hold.... medium at best. What you could do is mix it with a super strong gel to give about the same amount of hold as kccc. A lot of people like biosilk rock hard gelee for strong hold. You could use it after the fsg or just mix it in. As for additives to the fsg itself here's what I know:
Epsom salt: added to water as boiling to help deminish drying of hair. The salt helps activate curls. Can be bought at most drugstores.
Honey: gives a bit more hold, helps curls clump, and is a humectant (draws moisture into the hair from the air)
Oils: for moisture (usually added in tsp amounts)
Conditioner:moisture again. Too much added will take away from the hold though.
Glycerin: found at health food stores. Another humectant. Also adds shine.
Essential oil: for smell. Helps moisture get into hair too.
Aloe vera (the kind your have to keep in fridge): adds moisture and helps with clumping. Found in health food stores or organic sections of grocery stores.

Hope that helps!

As of now I don't use any... I keep my gel in the fridge and it keeps for 2-3 weeks. By then i've usually used it up.
