Which ingredient brings out definition?

I don't want to waste too much money on styling products that claim it'll define the curls but it either doesn't or it becomes too expensive to keep on buying. That said, I am thinking about creating my own styling product. I want to do this by mixing flax seed gel, aloe vera juice, magnesium sulfate oil. (Don't want to try Epsum salt due to drying properties.)

That said, what else can I put in so that it'll give me hair definition? I know that the magnesium sulfate will enhance my curls but I need something else to define it too... Like combining the enhancing JessiCurl rockin ringlets with the defining JessiCurl confident coils but in one homemade product.

Thanks!
