Water, protein, legumes, castor oil, coconut oil (oils for hot oil scalp treatment) and hair steaming. Protective style can help retain length. As far as supplements ive heard biotin helps but its no miracle pill. All of these things promote growth.
If you are doing all the rite things be patient, and length will come. I use to hate these words as a new natural but its true. Most of the women you see with long hair have been natural over 4 years. HTH

Warming oils are supposed to stimulate blow flow to the scalp and therefore increase growth. My favorite is mustard oil. You can also use cinnamon or rosemary

The first thing u want to do is make sure your scalp is cleaned and not "blocked" with product residue and the like, thus preventing hair from growing. Also, massaging your scalp may help. I like to do that with my prepoo using coconut oil with a few drops of rosemary essential oil.

I know what you mean about getting the hair to grow! Seems like my hair grows like a snail.
Lately, i've been trying Ayurveda powders like amla (aka amalaki/indian gooseberry), brahmi, and bringraj for hair growth since they supposedly add thickness, hair growth, and darken the hair (i've got some white hairs all over my head). I'm not sure if it will work since I just started, but i'll see in a few weeks how it goes. I've also heard that emu oil supposedly enhances hair growth as well.
Just a quick note on the cinnamon though, I put cinnamon on my scalp a long time ago, and it did enhance blood flow to my scalp i'm sure, but for god's sake don't put it directly on your scalp without something else! I made that mistake and my whole head burned like it was on fire, I was scrubbing the life out of my head to get it all out lol. I think if I put some cinnamon in a carrier oil like coconut or something it would have been ok, but I was over eager lol.

I do a hot oil treatment consisting of half castor oil and half evoo with a few drops of rosemary eo. I don't believe in those miracle hair growth pills but I do take a centrum women's multivitamin once a day.

Drink plenty of water, eat well, rest well, take a multivitamin if you feel ya need to, care for your ends- keep them moisturized and sealed... Be gentle with your hair. Don't tear through it, be easy with it. Sleep in a satin bonnet or on a satin pillowcase. Even a satin/silk scarf will work.
Use products that don't strip your hair and are moisturizing will keep your hair healthy. Know your properties. Are you low porosity? Does your hair like protein? These are basic things that will help you so much.
And be patient. A watched pot never boils and hair doesn't grow over night! Give it time to grow! We all hate to hear this, but it's the best advice ever.

What I have been doing to help my hair grow faster is.
Biotin: 300mcg I take 4 a day for a total of 1200mcgs a day.
Egg Masks: 2xs a week - 1 egg 2tbs coconut oil 2 tbs of sweet almond oil
The egg mask helps with breakage the oil for mositurizing
Along with Biotin I also take zinc 220mcg a day sometimes I will cut the pill in half and take a half a day. I do this because biotin can cause breakouts on your face and the zinc prevents that. Zinc is really good for your skin and helps out your immune system.
Scalp Massage. I tend to do this everyday afterwork. This helps stimulate hair growth
I also lay off heating tools to prevent breakage and damage.

all these tips are great! i believe that healthy and fast hair growth starts with the scalp, so having a good hair wash/cleasing routne is a must and keeping it free of dandruff and pruduct build up.
i message my scalp with an oil mixture, helps keep it moisturised and full of important vitamins to help with my hair growth. half argan oil, (argan oils full of goodies and is nice and light) evening primrose oil, (omega 9 and tones of Vit E) peppermint and rosemary oil, this helps with any dandruff or build up what i may get. its nice and light and doesnt make my hair greasy or weighd down.
i used to take boitan as well and really thought that helped, ill have to start on it again.
i think all this combined has helped with my hair growth.

In order to keep your scalp cleaned and not blocked with product like rmc2 said, try doing the acv (apple cider vinegar rinse). I did it last night and my hair feels product free. Its amazing!!!! But if your hair is dry after, just do a deep treatment like I did.
