Hi there,
I want to make a tencel mask as referral for acne reduction. What can i use around the house to make a mask to help.
If it helps I'm in the middle of puberty and my hormones are very high. My stress level is high, if that helps any?

Well, i've never made a facial "mask" before but i do make a home made facial scrub.
A word of caution, everyone's skin is different and some is more irritable than others. If you have sensitive skin, I would be very careful.
In my scrub I use brown sugar, freshly squeezed lemon juice(i would not use the lemon if your face is sensitive), and egg(not the yoke)
The egg always leaves my face feeling nice, smooth and soft.
The brown sugar is what makes it a scrub, and helps with exfoliation.
The lemon helps with evening skin tone and lightening dark spot that may be caused by acne.

Have you seen your family doctor? Acne is an inflammatory condition not simply an infectious one so acneic skin should always be treated as sensitive. Neither scrubs nor neat lemon juice are recommended on active acne, broken or inflamed skin.

Review your diet making it as anti inflammatory, low glycaemic index and nutrient dense as possible. Address the anxiety with stress management techniques and daily physical activity, recommended minimum 10,000 steps each day. These changes to your lifestyle can reduce systemic inflammation, balance hormones, strengthen the skin barrier and immune system all of which can make a real difference to acne over the weeks or months.

Unfortunately little from around the home you apply topically will improve active clinical acne, go for lifestyle modification as above, proven pharmaceutical treatments from your doctor, gentle healing skincare like aloe vera and products at pH ~5.5 (respects the protective acid mantle). Do not use any oil rich in oleic acid, research suggests it is comedogenic and acnegenic.

If you want to GENTLY exfoliate, you can dissolve aspirin tablets in water to make a mask - soak or wipe do not scrub - acetyl salicylic acid can help unclog pores and is anti inflammatory. Make it smooth not gritty, do not do this more than once every one to two weeks because it is very drying, over exfoliating damages the skin's barrier function allowing bacteria to gain access. You might also try raw honey masks or washes as honey is a natural antimicrobial.
