Shea butter is all the rage for haircare it seems. But what about us curlies and/or wavies that can't handle the heaviness? I tried my own concoction of mango butter + some oils and it's amazing! My hair even feels "wet", but is completely dry. I guess I'm not used to holding onto moisture, being high porosity. It didn't take forever and a day to dry like I thought it would, either.

Has anybody else tried mango butter?

My recipe-

Mango butter (~5 oz)
Jojoba oil (1.5 oz)
Grapeseed oil (1 oz)
a touch of vitamin E

I wisk it all together with my hand mixer so it's nice and fluffy

that sounds lovely! nice mixture, ive just odered mango butter, Avacado butter and shea butter, ive only ever used shea butter. and ive never made my own stuff like that, so im really exited. is it heavy? or is it a light mixture?

my hair: 3c, high porosity, high density and coarse hair (i think i finally figured that all out)
my hair loves conditioner only styling!
my hair goal length is bra strap length when curly.

It's a bit lighter than shea butter. Have fun with it!

Where did you order your mango and avocado butter from?
Blog: notarealfashionista.blogspot.com

I live in germany, so its a german site, though its called, "curly chocolate" i really love it. i did make a mixture, though i did it with a wisk, and my hands got to sore before it was really light. though i still use it, i use it together with my mousse.

Curly chocolates butters are all mixed with other stuff.. I wanted to order some a time back, but gave up after reading the ingredients - it's a shame,i really love their site but their homebrand stuff doesn't tempt me at all
yea i noticed that as well after i had bought it..... ill have to see how it goes. its lovely just to use pure as a hand cream as well. i bought shea, mango and avacado butter from there.

I just recieved my mango butter today. I whipped it up with Argan and JBCO and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. I can use it on wet hair which is almost impossible for me to do with shea butter. I smooths my frizz better than any oil or butter I've used. My hair is also extremely SOFT. This is a new HG for me!!!
